GETTING ANSWERS

Serena was lying on her bed, thinking all about everything and nothing. Her day turned out worst. But again she was used to it. The time she spent with Izabella was both good and bad. Good because, somewhere deep down she knew, she was partly relieved to know about her momma's insight life. And bad because she was not ready to accept the fact that her mother in law was supporting her son in the wrong thing, asking her to wait for a better explanation from Simon? and wait for the right time! and at the same time, she was angry at herself that found herself wondering about what Izabella had said. Finding it true. A very tiny bit. And that the third person has to make her realise it. She hated when others points out her mistake.

From the beginning, all she was thinking was about herself and all the irrational circumstances occurring with her. At first, she did not want to know why, just that she wants no part in it. Just want to escape and want to be in control of her life for once. But now that she changed her view, she realised that this was no coincidence. It was all planned. Considering the past events a few days ago. Everything was happening so fast in her life she didn't even get a chance to think about it peacefully.

Back then, she thought leaving Simon would prevent this. But no, this marriage was all planned. For the profit of both the companies and families. Saying that her father's company was going in loss and Simon wanted to gain worldwide recognition and his grandfather's will. However, her instinct was that this was not the whole truth, there must be more to the story.

Suddenly, meeting her fathers old friend over a preplanned dinner at her house and she accidentally overhearing a 'private' conversation between Simon and her father the same night, excited her and then this so-called marriage because of the profits for both the families. She was confused and it only added more questions to her already unanswered ones.

She too did not want to believe any word coming out of her to-be mother in law except that part that concerned her mother. And she did not find any strong reason to believe her. She thought what would be the better explanation Simon has to give to her. Even if she gave that thought a benefit of the doubt, then what would Simon have to say about the deal which he had shown her yesterday. If what izabella said was true then Simon wouldn't have bailed on her tonight.

Yes, Simon bailed on her.

After the overwhelming lunch, Izabella got a phone call, saying there was an urgent matter that required her attention. Apologising to Serena, she drooped her off at her house.

Around five o'clock, Serena received a text from Simon saying that she should be ready by 7 pm and a car will come and pick her up.

Much to her displeasure, she agreed. She thought that she would get her answers from him tonight but oh, how wrong she was. All of her hopes would be buried if only she knew what tonight will bring.

She was sitting in a restaurant, waiting for him thinking that, it must be the traffic that is taking him so long or it must be something work-related. She also tried to call him but it was switched off. But then after some time, she got a call from an unknown number, and she picked it up. The voice on the other end was too much familiar for her to ignore. It was Simon.

" Oh hi, Serena, enjoying the lovely night all alone in the restaurant. I especially booked it for us. Oops sorry, for you. Ah, and yes I won't be coming tonight. And you can't go from there unless I let you. Enjoy your me-time darling and yes! the bill is on me," Saying that he cut the call.

Too numb to react, Serena sat processing what he had just said. Tears gathered up in her eyes, but she refused to cry. Just about to leave the place, a man in a suit stopped her and said that she wasn't allowed to leave unless Simon tells them to do so. She sat again and the food was being served just right away but again she refused to eat or drink anything.

She sat there for like an hour when the man same as before came and said "It's about to get closed ma'am, you can leave," Hearing that she felt embarrassed and tears were threatening to fall. In a minute she was out. Hailed a taxi and went home.

She cried all night. She did not tell anyone about what happened. Even Alexander his father, came to see her but she refused to see anyone. Alexander tried a lot to get her to talk but all in vain. At last defeated, he left too.

That is why she changed her mind. Before the dinner, she considered what izabella said believed even, but not now. If her father was going into loss and marrying the most powerful businessman was the only solution then why her. There are other two daughters he can contemplate.

The "Dinner date" tonight was only conforming to her suspicion that Simon was after revenge because she refused his love years ago. But then again Simon was too mature for his age to do that and surely he has better things to do. Or...

The bright light of the sun illuminated the room. Serena stretched her arms. Still in bed quilt wrapped around her. Reached for her phone kept on the nightstand. There were 22 missed calls from Simon and 10 from Jenny bear. Thinking to talk to Jenny later and never to Simon, she kept her phone and went to get freshen and dressed up.

Staring at herself in the mirror there were many things she made up her mind about and things and facts which were clear in her mind.

She always thought that she will study and be independent in her life both emotional and financial ways and then unconsciously fall in love with a handsome and kind man and get married. But seeing the state of affairs in her life, she made a truce with her magical love story and her marriage. She thought that if this is what is supposed to happen, she will face it bravely.

And she will find out what was the main reason and why out of three sisters he chose her. Is it because of their history? but she refused him but then again is he trying to make her feel evil and embarrassed about it or is he after revenge?

Last night was enough to answer. her questions. He wants her to feel low and embarrassed that she rejected him. That she was again in front of him as the supposed deal of a bride, being his wife even she rejected his love. And he is a hero who solved her problems, she believed.

She will have her freedom and she fights for it. She thought this would be the last time she will show herself weak in front of everyone, never again cry so openly.

She got dressed and barged into her father's study. Surprisingly, he was not there. There were a few files on his table and a photo frame. His study was organised and clean. Never before she was allowed in his study even in his presence or not. This would be the second time she had set foot inside. Curiosity took the best out of her and she moved further into the room but again turned back peeked into the hallway to check if anyone saw her and closed the door.

She went towards the table. there were some files organised in the corner and pen papers in the middle. But there was a photo frame that caught her attention. It was a photo of all three of them. Serena, her father and her mother. All three of them smiling, no laughing. There was an extremely cute looking girl wearing a pink frock and who was in her father's arms. Then there was a woman tailing behind them who was wearing a long yellow dress, carrying a bowl in one hand and a spoon in another. The photo was taken from such an angle that it allowed her to look at them fully. Looks like her mother was trying to feed her, and her father just playing around.

She had never seen her father so causally smiling. He looked a lot youthful. So carefree. She did not remember any of this.

Grabbing a file kept at the top from the corner, she looked into it. Turning pages and pages all she saw was tables and figures all summed up, figures of the years before and now. And the numbers were going low and low. And every here and there she finds t

So the company is really into debt and this whole situation is not planned or like a game, she thought. But then she discovers a small piece of paper neatly folded and kept between the pages.

Interesting it feels like I am a detective on some secret mission, she thought.

"What are doing?" A voice bombed and Serena looked up. Upon seeing her father all colours on her face drained. Oh, I am dead, she thought.
