Jason (20)

Jason (20) I watched as Raine and Sue froze, suspended in time and I looked around the room, knowing this wasn’t my power. I watched as Kai slowly walked out behind them, his eyes bloodshot. He walked slowly past them until he reached my side and when I looked at him, for the first time; i saw fear in his eyes….and I saw anger “Kai” I whispered “Don’t do it, uncle Jason” Kai said in a low voice I frowned, unsure what he was talking about. He looked down and I followed his gaze, shocked at myself when I saw what he did. I lifted my partially shifted hand, the claws extracted. “You would regret it” Kai said with wisdom I looked at Raine and Sue, still frozen and barred my teeth at them “She’s planning on hurting us” I said between clenched teeth “Maybe, maybe not” Kai replied “I don’t know how long you have been here but- “ I started to speak “I only came in as Auntie Sue said she would tell everyone the truth” Kai explained “I was here when she spoke about eradicating mates” I said I could feel my wolf wanting to shift, to end those wanting to harm my mate and children Kai frowned and it was only when he took a deep breath and then winced, I realised something else. He was in pain “Kai” I said, bending down “What’s wrong?” “Nothing” Kai said, shaking his head I felt the lie, and my wolf and I both stood to attention. Something wasn’t right. I sneaked a peek at the two frozen people and crouched down, my hand touching his forehead. I frowned when I felt the burning heat and when he swayed a little, I held his arms and without hesitation, I picked him up into my arms. I wanted to swear when I felt the heat coming off his whole body and I rushed us to the livingroom, sitting him down onto the couch. The fact that Kai had not spoken at all in that time was worrying. “Kai, what's wrong little pup?” I asked “I’m fine” Jai answered I snorted “Clearly not” I said “You may be the supreme but I am still older than you. Your burning up, Kai” “I know” He whispered Got up, my eyes falling onto the jug of water on the table. I went over and poured him a glass and took it back to him, insisting that he drank it. When he only took a couple of sips, I felt my heart beat erratically. “You can’t hurt her uncle Jason” Kai said “I’m killing mad Kai” I admitted “I don’t know what is going on..and I can’t believe im going to say this but….I don’t trust Raine. She’s against us” “You can’t hurt her” Kai said, his eyes a little tired “You need to let her think she has the upper hand” “Why?” I asked, anger coursing through my veins again “Because her mate comes from a powerful lineage” Kai said Shocked at this information, I looked at Kai and then towards the door, mu body shaking as happiness and rage wared within me “Mate? Has she met him yet?” I asked Silence I looked back at Kai and watched his eyes. He leaned back against the sofa and I once again bent down “Your not ok Kai” i said I pulled out my phone and immediately, Kai put his hand ontop of it, his body stiff as he now sat up, his eyes blazing with intensity “You can’t call my mum” Kai said “Kai” I sighed “I’ll be fine” Kai said “I’m going to go home in a bit” “You weren’t at home?” I asked with a frown “Where were you?” Once again, silence. Sighing, I looked between my phone and Kai’s face, shaking my head “You are not well little pup” I said “And I don’t care if you are the supreme, you are still a little boy who is not well” “Mum’s with dad” Kai said “After four days” I winced “How are they?” I asked “Surviving” Kai replied “Four days is the longest” I said, sighing again “It’s the only way” Kai said “If mum goes earlier, she will get sicker. It’s hard for her to be without dad but dad needs to bring Tracy back with him” “Kai” I sighed “What is going on?” “I know you are asking about auntie Raine. Aunties Sue is not in the wrong. She’s trying to fix something that was in place before she met uncle Ray” “She’s still lied to her mate” I said in anger again “And that is not ok” “It is when you are protecting your mate from further heartache” Kai said with wisdom “What heartache?” I asked “And what about Raine? Who is her mate” “That is not for me to say” Kai said with a yawn “But auntie Raine needs to think you don’t know anything. Haven’t heard anything so she can make the right choices” “Kai” I said “she’s looking to destroy us. I can’t let that slide” “You are going to have to uncle Jason” Kai said “We all have to make sacrifices sometimes so the greater good can happen. If you stop her now, you will let the other side win” “The other side?” I asked “The ones against us” Kai said “Grandma Selene isn't finished yet uncle Kai” I stiffened in shock, looking at Kai. My mouth opened and closed like a fish for a few second before i fell back on my ass and sat down “She’s still alive?” I asked, shocked “Not in the way you think” Kai said “What is going on Kai?” I asked “And you don’t look good little pup” “I need you to let auntie Raine think she is getting away with making her plans real” Kai spoke softly “I can’t” I replied with anger “You have to or you will make things difficult” kai said “For who?” I asked, shaking my head “All of us” Kai replied “What happened to you Kai?” I asked again “I am protecting my mate” Kai said simply “Aria?” I asked, reeling from this confession “Is she - “ I got up, worrying about my pup. Kai coughed and I stopped when he held my hand, pulling me back “She is safe and fine” Kai said “But I am doing what I must to keep my mate safe. And you must too” “What is Raine doing? Who is her mate?” I asked, sitting back down “She is trying to gain back what she lost in her life” Kai said “She wants her family back” “Family”? I asked, confused “What do….no! You can’t mean she means to bring back our parents?” “Not just them” Kai said, coughing “Kai, let me call your mum” I said, worried “No” Kai coughed He took a sip of water again and I watched him closely. I saw the colour come back in his face but his eyes still were red. I felt worry bloom in my heart as I saw the boy before me. He wasn’t well and I picked him up, carrying him back towards the door. “Where are we going?” Kai asked “To see Anna” I said “I can’t be in here without wanting to rip them apart and you need medical help” “Im ok” Kai said “No, Kai” I replied “You are not” When we came close to where Raine and Sue were still frozen, I looked at Kai and nodded “I will unfreeze them. But you will need to act like you didn’t hear any of that” I clenched my jaw, my body vibrating with anger again. I shook my head, unsure if I could do that. I watched Kai’s unmoving face, knowing he was still in charge and resenting the power he had. “I CAN’T let them harm my family or my pack” I said, seething “She won’t” Kai said “She just needs time to realise where she is wrong” “And if she doesn't?” I asked “She will” Kai said with conviction “BUT if she doesn’t?” I repeated again “Then I will destroy her” Kai said simply I looked at him in shock, shaking my head at him. I felt the warn within as I fought with my wolf who was agreeing with Kai. I wanted to throw them into the underground cells and torture the s**t out of them and find out what they were doing but my wolf agreed with Kai and wanted to go with his plan. After a lot of internal fighting, I finally relented and nodded to Kai, accepting what he was telling me even as the anger continued “Wait” I said “Her mate, who is it?” “I can’t tell you” Kai said “But you know” I said, nodding “Why are they important” “Because they are powerful and for what is about to come, there alliance is going to be needed” Kai said in a cryptic manner “Let me guess” I said, sighing “You can’t tell me yet” He stayed quiet, his eyes not moving from my face; his face serene and emotionless. I nodded, clenching my jaw as I mind-linked my beta, Ray, Anna and the warriors. “You can#’t stop me from telling them” I said with flashing wolf eyes “I didn’t say anything” Kai replied I snorted, rolling my eyes “Fine” I sighed “Unfreeze them” “Not yet” Kai said “Put me down on the chai. I will cloak myself. Then tell them you heard Sue say the last part and you came just now to ask them to dinner” I nodded, my jaw clenching and unclenching. I closed my eyes and tilted my head left and right, trying to loosen the muscles. I had to practice a few times before opening my eyes and looked at Kai who nodded at me I sat him on the spare chair not far from where Raine was standing frozen and I walked back to the door. Kai guided me on how to act and I prepared myself for the acting of a lifetime even as I slowly planned my own sisters demise; my wolf and I in agreement that this betrayal couldn't go unpunished
