I watched the kids excitedly head towards their own camping tents after Anna said it was late and time for bed. We had spent the day eating, laughing and swimming before Tim bought over and set up the projection, just near the campsite. We watched one disney cartoon and one marvel movie before i felt my mates exhaustion through our bond and knew she was done in. I nodded to her and she had proceeded to encourage the kids for beds.

The three youngest, Scott’s first oldest son, Sherry’s oldest daughter and Sophie’s youngest son all headed to the biggest tent which they would share with Sophie who was taking care of them

Kelsie has already gone in just as the first movie had started, the baby fussing and needing his feed and nappy changed again. Since Sherry and John couldn’t be here, it was Sophie who had taken the responsibility of the younger kids, her older kids talking to Toby as they agreed on what time to wake up tomorrow.

“Are you really gonna let this happen?” Ray asked

I turned to look at him. Sue, Anna and Raine had started clearing up the food and mountain of junk that was still on the table. I saw some of the warriors close down the novelty popcorn cart we had and start to take the things inside.

“Yeah” I sighed, stretching “I guess I am”

“Wow” Ray whistled “I didn’t think i’d ever see the day. Especially this young”

“She’s hurting, Ray” I admitted quietly

We both turned to watch as Kai walked with Aria to her princess tent and helped her inside. As a father, I wanted to stomp over and growl at them. Insisting they couldn’t be in the tent together and I knew my beta and warriors were having the same thought since they all stopped doing what they were and watched Kai with laser eyes, almost taking a step forward.

I shook my head at them, signaling with my hand that it was ok. I could feel their mixed emotion through the bond as they fought with themselves to head my command

“What did Anna Say?” Ray asked

“Just that Aria missed Kai’s presence and when he wasn’t near her, she felt depleted of energy and was sad without him because “he

made the sun shine in her room when he was there” that no one else could do” I sighed

“Yea” I replied

We watched as Kai came back out and Anna bent down gently. I growl softly and Anna looked at me, one eyebrow lifting up as she shook her head

“What are you doing my mate?” I asked, walking over to her

“I was going to go in - “ Anna started to say

“Baby” I sighed “You shouldn’t bending down like this”

“You weren’t complaining last night” Anna quietly whispered in my ear

I watched them, my family as my chest puffed up in pride. I saw Toby walking around, settling in the others and making sure they were comfortable; like a true alpha. Even as far as going to say if they needed anything, to let the five warriors who were also camping out to protect them; know or him. He pointed out his tent even though everyone already knew. I watched my mate and Aria as they laughed and spoke excitedly and when I glanced to the side, I saw my siblings and I felt a lump in my throat.

“Are you ok?” Anna asked

I blinked. Aria was going back into her tent and Anna was touching my cheek, her eyes worried when she looked at me. I nodded,

gently pulling her into my arms as I took in a lung full of her scent, using it to anchor me.

“Thank you” I whispered

“For what?” Anna asked, chuckling

“For being my world. For giving me a chance” I replied, slowly lifting my head “For not giving up on me and making my world complete”

I brushed a tear away as Anna sniffed, nodding. I took her lips in a gentle kiss even as I felt the fire of passion ignite.

“Not wanting to interpret” Ray said from behind me “But I don’t think you want to give the kids any ideas”

I looked behind Anna’s shoulders and almost blushed. Aria was watching us with wide eyes and when I looked at Kai, I say him look at us, nod then turn away

I shake my head, stepping back a little as I tried to think about something else except my mate and her intoxicating scent. Ray walked up to us and handed me the plastic picnic cloth that had been folded and I took it gratefully as Anna chuckled. Ray laughed as he wiggled his eyebrows and I cuffed him lightly, shaking my head again at his antics

“Mummy, how come you kiss daddy a lot?” Aria asked “like, a lot lot”

“Because I love him” Anna answered

“Because that’s how mates tell each other they love them, right?” Aria asked

I froze, my eyes wondering to Kai who was talking to one of the warriors and then to Ray who looked a little pale too. He looked back

at me, his mouth opening and closing at the question

“Right” Anna said, looking at me. She then turned to Aria and touched her hair “But only when we are older. Kissing is for older people and mates who have had a mating ceremony”

“But what if your soul has already mated” Aria asked with a tilt of her head “Don’t you kiss then?”

“What do you mean honey?” Anna asked, biting her bottom lip again

“Well” Aria asked “If someone knows who their mate is and they already…erm….bonded, shouldn’t they get to kiss?”

I felt everyone freeze. I clenched my fist’s as I tried to breath through the spiralling feelings that were raging inside of me.

“Well…uh, that’s a little different sweetie” Anna said “And again, you have to be older to kiss like mummy and daddy do”

“So when we are our age I can still kiss can’t i?” Aria asked innocently

I almost blew my top off, taking a step closer. But thankfully Anna had a better answer

“Sure” Anna smiled “You can kiss the cheek. Like you do to me or daddy and grandma Deedee”

“Ok” Aria said, skipping away to her brother’s tent as she called out to him she wanted to play Uno, the card game

Just like that, the tension evaporated but I felt myself still buzzing with suppressed energy

“What the f**k what that?” Ray asked in a whisper “And what does she mean her soul?”

“Let’s not do this here” Anna whispered

“How are you so calm?” Ray asked me

“I’m not” I replied as I tried to relax my body “I’m just trying not to let lose and f**k s**t up”

Ray and Anna chuckled. Anna walked over and hugged me before uttering word I was shocked at

I chuckled, hugging her tight. I saw Sophie come out of her tent walk towards us, her smile sad yet bright

“You look tired, Anna” Sophie said “Go sleep. We’ve got this”

I saw Raine and Sue join us, nodding their heads in agreement

“Each of the tents has a warrior camped next to them plus the other six warrior have just come on duty” Sue added

“Overkill much?” Raine chuckled

“Never” Ray and I both answered at the one time

“Besides” Sophie chuckled, “Kai is here. He’s already put up extra wards too”

I nodded, already feeling extra secure.

“Go” Sue said, touching Anna’s shoulder “I can feel your exhaustion from here”

“But” Anna started

I lifted her up by picking her up bridal style as she squeaked that this wasn’t dignified and that she could walk. I heard the other’s chuckle as I wished them good night, already looking forward to stripping my mate naked and spending time with her.

We had just gotten into the kitchen and I was teasing Anna about what I planned to do with her when my feet came to a halt at the figure in front of me

“Can I speak to you, alpha?” Kai asked

“Kai, Honey” Anna said as she wiggled for me to let her down

I lowered her slowly, making sure her feet were stable before letting her stand, my arms still around her

“What are you doing here honey?” Anna asked “Would you like more food?”

“No Auntie Anna” Kai said “But I would like to speak to uncle Jason, please”

“About what?” I asked, keeping my calm

“Something important” Kai said seriously

“Ok” I said, smiling at his serious tone

“Alpha to Alpha” Kai explained

I felt my back straighten and Anna and I exchanged a worried look. I nodded, looking at him.

“Don’t worry auntie Anna” Kai said “It’s nothing bad, I promise. But I do need to speak to him. Uncle Jason can tell you later if he likes”

“Oh” Anna said, her eyes wide “You don’t want me there?”

“You need the rest. The baby is going to need sweetened tea soon so you don’t be sick” Kai said, as if a doctor “You did a lot today so you need rest”

Anna just nodded like it was acceptable that a child was telling her what to do. I was both impressed and annoyed and even more so when she kissed my cheek and proceeded to walk away. Only for Deedee to come out of nowhere and help support her upstairs.

I looked at Kai’s unwavering gaze and knew he had done this.

I nodded to him, walking towards the smaller office downstairs that Tim, my beta often used and walked in. I knew Kai followed me quietly and once we both entered the room, I took the head chair and sat down behind the desk as Kai took the seat in front of me.

“Ok” I said “What’s up, Kai?”

Kai closed his eyes for a second, his head bent. He took a deep breath as if bracing himself and I felt the worry mount inside of me. I was almost going to speak when the silence went on too long, when Kai raised his head and slowly opened his eyes again.

I sucked in a deep breath as my eyes connected with ones not of a child but of someone who was wise and had years of knowledge

“Kai?” I whispered

“I understand the worry Alpha Jason” Kai said, his voice much deeper than before

“What’s going on?” I askd, my body tense

“I never spoke about kissing to Aria” Kai said

I blinked, trying to wrap my head around the small body of a body with a voice deep with maturity and eyes full of claiming knowledge

“I know you are worried, as any dad would be” Kai said with a nod “She’s a child. I am too. We may act mature and we may have powers, but we are still kids”

Again, I blinked. Sure this was some messed up dream I was having

“Aria is curious. Her mind has many question but that is because she is learning” Kai explained

“Learning what?” I asked, finally finding my voice

“Many things. Some I can talk about. Some I can’t” Kai replied.”But I wanted you to know that I have not spoken about kissing, mates, bonding or s*x”

“You better not have talked about s*x!” I roared, standing up

Kai stayed seated, calm and strong even as my body vibrated with anger and disgust

“I haven’t” Kai confirmed

“DO you even kn - you know what?” I said, shaking my head “I don’t even want to know”

“I do” Kai confirmed

I flinched, my hands fisting and shaking as I took deep breaths to try to calm myself

“Aria is my mate uncle Jason” Kai said quietly “I love her. She is mine and I am her’s. She is everything to me and she is the only reason I stay human”

“Human?” I asked, confused

“If it wasn’t for Aria, I wouldn’t be here. I would already be away and on my path to being the only supreme and have my training” Kai started explaining “Aria is what keeps me from being a cold being”

I listen in awe of this child talking to me like an adult. His words and calming demeanor at odds with his physical being.

“I will protect Aria with my life. No one is as important as her” Kai said with deadly seriousness “I will protect her from all others, including myself if I have too. Even from you or mum….gramps. The world. But I am not here to hurt her and I will if I take her away from her family….or hurt her dad who she loves very much”

I blinked the moisture that gathered in my eyes, clearing my throat as I sat back down and nodded

“I won’t lie to appease you alpha. When we are older, I will mate Aria. We WILL be together and no one can or will be able to stop us” Kai said, holding his hand up as I opened my mouth “BUT only when we are older. That is a long way away. Aria wants to kiss me and hold me like she see’s you and other mates doing. She know’s that’s what mates do and doesn’t understand why we don’t. She is too young to understand what she is asking for or what it means…she only knows that something is missing”

“Why?” I asked

“Because even thought she and I look young…..we aren’t. Not really. There's much we both know and have seen. Much we will go through so in some ways - we are more adults than everyone here” Kai said “But in physical sense, we are children. That is why I give you my word - that while I will love, care and protect Aria - While I may take her places or hug her, I will never step over the line until we are older”

“How old” I asked, pushing for an answer

“Until at least Aria is over fifteen” Kai said

“FIFTEEN?” I shouted, getting up again “She’s still a child then!”

“You know that is not true” Kai said, shaking his head “Do you not remember yourself at fifteen? Besides, Aria’s power would have started to spill out then. While I may try to contain my desire, Aria won’t”

“What the hell does that mean?” I asked “Are you accusing my dau-”

“I mean” Kai cut in “That it won’t just be her high witch side coming to the forefront but her wolf also”

“No” I whisper, shocked

“Yes” Kai nodded “Aria has a wolf. A wolf who is already showing signs of awakening”

“Impossible” I hissed “We don’t get our wolves this early”

“You do if you are both a high witch and a powerful female alpha” Kai explained

“A female alpha” I whispered “Like Raine”

“More powerful than auntie Raine” Kai nodded “I wanted you to know that I will never cross that line before than uncle Jason. No matter how much either of us wants to. I will only ever kiss her cheek if she really wants a kiss. Even when I am with her and we are alone - I will never disrespect you that way”

I heard a boy speak words only men spoke of, with a tone of maturity that was shocking to see. I nodded, unsure what else I could say

“I don’t understand this Kai” I admitted “You both shouldn’t be feeling this yet”

“If we were normal, then no” Kai agreed “But we are not and that's why I wanted to give you my word, alpha to alpha”

“I….appreciate it” I said, my mind abuzz with the information

“And to help ease your worry, I can offer a pact….a gift if you like” Kai said “One, that would cause me pain but will help Aria and you free your worry”

“What?” I asked, surprised

“There is something I can do, with the help of grandma Deedee. Something that could change things until she comes of age” Kai said. He sighed, looking away but I saw the pain clear on his face as the lone tear slipped down

“Kai?” I said, feeling a weird ache take place in my chest

“Aria’s the only one who is important” Kai whispered, still looking away

“What is it?” I asked, slowly getting up

When Kai turned to look at me, I almost hissed out a breath at the look of pure torture on his face, his eyes sad and full of pain yet his face stiff and unyielding.

“I know how much you all worry, how much you stress over Aria and I” Kai said “How you think if I am near her, I will do something wrong and that you are losing Aria. She loves you very much and I can’t stand it when she hurts because she thinks she is hurting you and me by not supporting us individually”

I sucked in a breath, nodding at his honest words

“Her happiness comes before anything” Kai stated, causing me to look at him with new found respect “I can give Aria back to you. I can make it all change”

“What?” I asked, unsure what he meant “What does that mean, Kai?”

“I can give her to you fully” Kai whispered with a clear broken heart “As an alpha, I can give you my word that if you want this, I will do this - for Aria’s happiness”

“Do what?” I asked cautiously

“Give her back to you so she is not divided, not curious about us” Kai said said, looking me in the yes with a quiet resolve

“How?” i asked, fear creeping up my spine

“By taking her memory of me away” Kai whispered quietly

“WHAT?” I shouted, my knees shaking at this statement

“It’s true” Kai nodded solemnly “It will takes me some days to prepare and preform the spell but I can do it with grandma Deedee’s help”

“Kai” I whispered “that…I never….I”

I couldn’t get my words out, my brain in a jumble at his words as I tried to wrap my head around what he was saying

“I know its a shock and I don't want to do it. But I also don’t want you all worried or Aria living like she is with sadness and worry and questions about how we are mates but not acting like it” Kai said “SO as an alpha, I give you my word…..if you want me to I will erase my importance and her memory of me being her mate from her mind. I will bind Aria’s memories of me”

I slowly sank back into my seat, my mind numb with this information as i took in Kai’s appearance which seemed to have shrunk a little. I shook my head, unsure of what to do as both parts waged a war inside of me

“Would you like me to do that uncle Jason?” Kai asked

“I…” I stopped unsure what or even how to say what I was feeling

“I will only do it if you agree” Kai said

“What about you?” I asked him, needing to understand the consequences to him too

“Only Aria matters” Kai said with a shake of his head “If you say yes, I will bind Aria’s memories of me until she reaches maturity with her high witch at fifteen”

“Which means what exactly?” I asked

“That I will only be a distant memory to her. Her brother’s friend. Someone she only says hi to, now and then because she knew we grew up together but held no significant purpose for her” Kai explained in a quiet and stoic voice “She won’t ask for me or miss me. She wont pine for me or talk about mating or kissing. She will still have her powers grow and I will always protect her….for me, she will still be mine and be my everything but for her…….I will cease to exist”
