"Audrey," I heard Malik call almost in a whisper. I opened one eye, peeping through my fingers and saw him standing in front of me, stretching his hand towards me. I opened both eyes and stared at him. Then I slowly slid my hand into his. He drew me up.
"Where..." I looked around, wondering where the wolf had gone.
"It was me," he said, knowing what I was curious about.
I looked sharply at him, his face was pleading with me. I was mad at him, but now that I knew he was of a higher rank than me, I knew I couldn't do anything. My gaze quickly dropped to his feet.
"What those books said was true after all," I said with tears in my eyes.
