I glanced over at Jade not sure what to say or if I should say anything at all. If this was the witch I had already messed up. Especially if she is the witch but looks like she should still be in high school.
"I'm sorry I'm Anna has Jade mentioned anything about me?"
"She mentioned that a fox shifter with a potential mate is causing problems with the packs. Ring a bell?" She grinned not bothering to hide her amusement and I turned and glared at Jade who was this chick and what exactly did Jade say to her.
Looking back to the woman in front of me I stopped. She stood there on the steps her head c****d to the side looking at me as if she was trying to figure something out. She smiled after a moment seeing my confusion and anger.
"Don't worry Jade didn't spill your secrets. When she called me up and said she had a friend who needed my help it didn't take a lot of digging to find out who you were. A lot of people are talking about you right now in some ways that's good but in some ways, it's a very bad thing." She stopped speaking for a moment eyeing with a look of concern. "I found out most everything I needed to know about you and I can imagine that whoever left that note it was just as easy for them. So I'll help you I'll make it to where you can't be tracked of spell or scent. I'll do it, but on one condition if you're anything like what people are saying you are you're going to want to go after this person and I want to help."
Leia didn't give me a chance to argue instead taking me by the arm you pulling me inside. Before I could even think of a response I found myself in the house standing in what I assumed was the living room. But unlike a normal place, it didn't have a TV or couches. Instead, there were bookshelves on every wall. There were hundreds of books and jars spread out along the shelves. Eyeing the shelves I moved to the middle of the room they look like they may fall over or collapse from the weight of it all. Leia rushed around grabbing different things from the shelves and bringing them to rest on the table in the middle of the room. Jade and Leia were talking, but for some reason, I couldn't bring myself to focus on what they were saying. Leia had said she found me with little to no effort. That means the people that or supposedly hunting me they might have too. Over the last week, they would have had so many opportunities to take me to kill me. So why hadn't they? There had to be something I was missing.
A hand on my arm startled me from my thoughts. Leia stood in front of me arms laden with jars full of different liquids and other things. Focusing on her and what they were saying shouldn't have been so hard but at that moment it seemed like the hardest thing in the world.
By the time I arrived back at my house my feet hurt from standing as Leia did various spells. She had done so many that I had lost track of how many that she did. Pulling into the driveway I wasn't surprised to see Liam's truck. But as I reached my hand up towards the protection necklace that now hung around my neck all I felt was guilty. I had lied to him. The thought of giving in to what Liam had wanted scared me more than any threat. If he had gotten his way I'd be locked away in his packhouse. That's something I just couldn't do regardless of what I may or may not feel for him. Opening the door I didn't even have time to get out of my car before Liam was out the door and walking towards me. Before he even reached me I knew he was angry it rolled off in waves like heat on the pavement on a hot day. Before everything, if an angry wolf was walking towards me I would have turned tail and run. Not anymore I was done running. I was done being afraid.
" What the hell Anna!!" He growled as he approached. It was so dark even from five feet away I could see his eyes. They were glowing so bright I knew his wolf was close to the surface.
" What?" Panic went through me for a moment did he follow me did he know what I was doing? Did he know that I was working with a witch? That she had placed not only protection spells but also blocking spells? But how could he Leia had said that the only people who meant me harm would not be able to smell or track me?
"Where have you been?? I've been worried out of my mind thinking that something happened to you! I almost sent my wolves out to look for you!" His voice rose in volume with every word he spoke until he was almost yelling. I let out a growl of my own my anger rising in response to his. "First of all last I checked I don't answer to you we are not mated you're not my boss you're not my dad so back the f*** off. Now for your information, I was having a girls' day with Jade like I said I was going to I never told you I would be back at a certain point. I'm not going to be one of your wolf b****** who you're going to boss around and tell me what to do. If you think that this is how this is going to work your f****** delusional and you can go ahead and leave."
Liam looked both shocked and angry at the same time. Without saying a word he turned around stalking back into the house. Not leaving the door open for me to follow. Walking inside I waited for more anger and yelling I almost relished it. I deserved it he didn't know what now but I had lied to him. Not only when I left this morning but also when I told him that we had been out having a girl's day. What I didn't expect was to walk into an empty living room. Pushing open The Swinging Door that led into the kitchen I stopped. There was food on the table I didn't have to get close to realize that it was cold. Glancing at the counter I saw dishes washed in the sink and bowls filled with leftovers. Shock watched over me as I looked at all. Liam had cooked for me. Looking away from the dude I looked out the glass doors that led from the kitchen onto the patio. Liam stood there looking out across my yard his arms crossed against his chest. Heating both plates I stepped out to join them moving to stand next to him I held out a plate. We ate in silence both lost in our thoughts. Even after we ate we stood there in silence plates in hand. I'm not sure how long we stood there in silence before the silence got to me I had to say something.
" I'm sorry Liam I should have realized you would be worried."
Letting out a sigh Liam turned to cup my face and hand he looked at me for a moment. He didn't look angry anymore instead he looks sad. "I'm trying to control you Anna I hope that you don't think I am. I'm trying to be patient with you you are my mate that fact is undeniable. I know you need time to come to terms with that and I'm not rushing you. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to worry mate Bond or no you're mine."
