WOLVES IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING

522 Words
I couldn't sleep all night and when morning came, I still hadn't made up my mind. I stood up, looked at the room, and saw my wedding dress and started crying again. Sometime later, the maid came and knocked on my door, telling me that everyone was waiting for me. With that, I got up, packed some of my clothes, and slipped out unnoticed through my usual escape route when going to parties without permission. I never looked back and from that point on, started living life the hard way, but a part of me always wanted to come back and finally after three years, I was back where I was meant to be and my dad and mum accepted me back after much begging. I was almost completely happy. When I came back to my senses, I was face-to-face with my former best friend and former lover, and worst yet, she was accompanied by my chief and my partner as bodyguards. They were shocked because they didn't know anything about my past. They kept on looking at me with faces filled with questions. After I left my house that day, turns out the wedding did happen, only difference was it happened between Chris and Diana. It was almost like they were waiting for me to leave so that they could get with one another. This pained me in more ways than I could imagine. I felt really betrayed and the worst part was that I still loved him then and even now. The party went on smoothly, but ladies will always be ladies, so there was a bit of gossip here and there. At the end of the party, everyone went to their respective homes except for very close friends and business partners. My dad wanted to introduce me back into the business world and that meant I had to be near Chris as he was at the center of it all. It's funny how I had to beg my dad before he accepted Chris as his son-in-law, but after that, even though I went away, my father and Chris became closer than ever. Honestly, I feel he is the son he never had but wish to have all along. We finished the business deals we had on our agenda very late into the night and everyone was pretty exhausted and went their separate ways. I also retired to my room. A few minutes later, as I was coming out of the shower, I heard a knock on my door. Thinking it was one of the maids, I carelessly said the door was open and she could come in, but it wasn't her; rather, it was Chris. I was shocked at seeing him and accidentally the towel fell from my hand onto the floor. Flustered, I turned around, reached for my towel, and put it back on. I couldn't turn to face him. At the same time, I was curious as to what he was doing here. We both kept silent for a long time. The silence was in fact echoing loud and clear.
