KILLIAN "Come in." I said as soon as I heard the knock on the door. I checked my wristwatch, it was time for the meeting with a famous music artist named Gagne. Through the years, I had become a successful billionaire and a basket baller. I also planned on establishing my business worldwide so I had to leave my country to come here, hoping for the best. I was advised to meet and have an agreement with top celebrities who could help in advertising and promoting my business. A friend of mine informed me about Gagne and I decided to contact her manager to schedule a meeting with her. My secretary came in first, informing me of her arrival as I stood straightening my suit as she walked in. I noticed her pause for a moment as soon as our eyes met. She was putting on her mask so I didn't know the expression she had on but her eyes said it all, she seemed dazed. "Miss.." Tina, my secretary nudged as she tapped her lightly. "Oh!! My bad.... I'm Gagne." She said, smiling nervously as soon as she got herself, clearing her throat. "I'm Killian!" I said, extending my hands for a casual handshake. She stared at it for a while before shooking my hands. "Please take a seat!" I said, gesturing her to a seat. Something felt off but I couldn't pinpoint what it was. I had to shake off the feeling. "Do you have any terms and conditions?" I asked, picking up a notepad. "Let's go over the contract again, I wasn't really informed much about it." She said and I nodded picking up the contract paper. "I need you to help in advertising my business products and for it to get promoted. I believe with the fame you've got, it will be easy to draw in much people to patronise my business." I explained as she stared at me, nodding at intervals. "So how do we go about it?" She asked after moments of silence in a rather sarcastic tone but I overlooked it. Fame can make one feel so full of herself and rude! I sneered. "We can shoot an advert video right here in the company, then we watch and see how it goes." I explained and she nodded. "So what was the point of demanding for my presence when you could have just discussed this with my manager.....it's like you actually summoned me!!" She ranted and it took all will power in me not to glare at her. I forced a smile on. "I just wanted to meet you in person." I muttered and she scoffed, folding her hands. "I see..." She said as she shook her limbs, glancing round the office. "All companies I signed contracts with, my manager had always being the one to handle it.... I only agreed to come here because I wanted to meet the prideful CEO who summoned me!!" She said, her tone screaming sarcasm. "I'm sorry for the inconvenience ma'am." I apologized, hoping that would clear the tension a bit. She shrugged. "So deal or no deal?" I asked when she refused to utter a word. "Humph..... what can I say? But I have my terms, let's discuss about the pay!!" She said as she clasped her hands together on her knee, leaning forward. "It's stated here in the contract." I stated, handing her the contract document. She scrutinized it for minutes without glancing up or saying a word, the silence became really awkward. "Is it satisfactory?" I asked as soon as she dropped the document. "Well...." She began as I listened attentively, waiting curiously to hear what she had to say. "Triple the price!!" She stated and my mouth hung open in shock. "What??? That's massive." I complained as she scoffed. "Massive!!" She muttered, furrowing her brows. "I charge some other companies way higher than that but taking a look at your just starting company, I decided to give a discount." She said in a sort of mockery tone. "Wow!! A discount? You must be kidding me. And for your information, I'm not a citizen of this country, I'm trying to establish my business in a foreign land doesn't mean it's a new company. It's just a branch." I blurted and I soon regretted saying it. I felt she had hurt my pride and I had to say that but unknown to me, she was going to us my words against me. "Then that settles it.... the price shouldn't be a problem to you since your company isn't just starting" She said, clutching her hands in the air as I secretly bit my lips. I shouldn't have said that. Well, I had to… she made me feel belittled. "Alright, I'm doubling the amount." I said and shook her head, obviously not satisfied. "Triple!!" She stated plainly as I sighed out. Money was definitely not the problem, I just felt the amount she was demanding for wasn't worth the task. And what's with the way she pronounced "triple" like she was bitter by it?? She stood up at once with a smirk on her face. "Let me give you enough time to consider my term, when you reconsider, you have my manger's contact." She said as she began leaving. "Fine.... I accept." I said, and she paused momentarily. "Wise decision." She muttered with a smirk as she signed the contract, and we shook hands, sealing the deal. "All other details will be forwarded to your email." I informed as she nodded simply and began sashaying out. "Can I get your autograph at least?" I asked, and she halted on her tracks. "It isn't business related and therefore not part of the deal!!" She said, without looking back and like that she walked out. I sank to my seat as I scoffed. Airy, rude and egoistic was all I could characterize her just on my first meeting with her in person. She pretends like a sweet soul when on stage but acts as a proud peacock off the stage. I glanced at my wrist-watch, I was expecting a phone call soon. I leaned back on my swivel seat as I let my mind drift to years back. After Fianda left, I and Mira got married legally. But our marriage was filled with hatred, constant quarrels and several misunderstandings. However, Mira got pregant and bore a child I trained, thinking he was my own son. I secretly carried out a DNA test and the test results came out negative. I later discovered that she cheated on me and one thing led to the other and we had to divorce. I couldn't stand her tantrums any longer. Then, I felt empty inside, I regretted my actions, I shouldn't have let Mira spoil my once peaceful maried life with Fianda. It was then I discovered I was better off with Fianda as my partner. I began wishing I could turn back the hands of time. I continued my basketball game and I was able to represent our agency in several matches in which we won several trophies. Then, I began establishing myself in the business world until I eventually became successful. Just then, my phone rang as I swiped green at once, placing the phone on loud speaker. "It's time!!" A deep voice said, cutting through the silence and I swallowed.
