Jax paused for a moment and said straightforwardly, "Harmonica, I always knew how to play."
Kendrick glanced at him lightly and said, "Oh, really."
Jax's heart sank as he understood. He realized that Boss was not asking him whether he could play the harmonica or not, but rather why he would play it for the lady, especially when Boss was not around.
Jax didn't want Boss to see him as a rival, so he immediately explained seriously, "When I was at Glubia, I was playing the harmonica by the lake, and coincidentally, it was heard by the lady. She understands musical instruments and noticed that my harmonica had three out-of-tune holes. She suggested that I tune it down, but I told her it was because the reed was broken and I didn't know how to fix it. Maybe that's why she gave me a new one."
