She still hadn’t seen her best friend, Annabelle, and she felt a little disappointed.
Now that the ceremony had started, it wasn’t easy to walk around freely. So, she stayed in place, observing the so-called high society engagement party.
She didn’t know the couple getting engaged today, nor was she interested in the ceremony itself. The process was the same everywhere: the matchmaker spoke, the bride and groom greeted their elders and offered tea, and then exchanged tokens.
Julissa couldn’t help but think—whether in high society or the common people, these secular rituals were pretty much the same. The only difference was the grandeur of the venue.
