+CHAPTER 1+ A Change

1125 Words
Aidan gazed at his brother Marek and his bride Sky. They were one of those rare people who fell in love and lived happily ever after if you minus the occasional ass beating Marek gets from Sky. Gold had really blessed them with everything. And their biggest blessings were their twin sons, the life of the Dragon Realm. The two young princes of the Kingdom, Xavier, and Dominic. Gold! They were the recantation of Satan himself. It was out of Aidan’s understanding that how could two teenage boys were out of his and Marek's control. Both Aidan and Marek were f*****g millennium-old dragon’s and it was embarrassing that they had been fooled by those two teenagers countless times. Looking at his brother’s family sometimes Aidan couldn’t help but envy Marek a little. What couldn’t he give to have a family of his own? What couldn’t he give to be accepted by the woman he had fallen for. The only woman his heart belonged to and the only woman who can’t stop running away from him. No matters how many times he thinks where he had gone wrong, he can’t figure it out. He had given her everything a woman could wish for. Love, respect, pleasure, he had given it all to her then why couldn’t she just accept him? “Lost in her thoughts again?” Sky’s voice bought him back from his troubled thoughts. “Where is Marek?” Aidan asked instead of answering Sky's question while looking around their family room where they all hang out. "He went out with the kids when you were busy daydreaming about your bride." Sky mumbled while munching on her snacks. "You know the kids have started to question. They want me to hitch you up with someone since everyone thinks that you are going to be the one who will break the curse." Sky said reminding him of the Drakaina Curse yet again. Centuries had passed but the Dragon Realm was still bound to the curse. A curse because of which countless female Dragons had died. A curse after which no woman had been born in the Dragon Realm. The Dragons had tried everything in their power but they had failed to bend the curse. Twenty years ago an Oracle had predicted that Aidan will bend the curse, he will be the one to release the Kingdom from the Drakaina Curse. Ever since then the whole Kingdom had held their breaths. They silently wait~ And their wait was suffocating Aidan, their expectations and hopes were like an invisible noose around his neck. They were making it difficult for him to breathe. “The kids need to mind their own business.” Aidan grunted while snatching the chips out of Sky's hands and angrily shoving a few in his mouth. “You need to settle down Aidan. At this rate, you are going to end up alone.” Sky said but this time in a serious tone. ”I can’t." Aidan sighed. At his reply, Sky shot him a glare. ”I know that dragons are not bound to their fated mates then why are you doing this to yourself, Aidan? Why are you waiting for someone who is never going to come to you?” “You are right. I’m not bound to her but how can I take another female when my heart belongs to her?” Aidan asked with a sad smile. “You know looking at you waiting for her makes me want to stab her for rejecting you but at the same time, it amazes me that what kind of a woman she is to make you fall for her. I want to meet her, want to see if she is that beautiful to turn a King into a wanderer.” Sky couldn’t keep the curiosity out of her voice. “It’s not her beauty I fell for little sissy. I fell for her eyes that begged me to save her. I can’t figure out what she wanted me to save her from. I want to know what she fears so I can slay her demons.” Aidan’s fists clenched as an overwhelming need to protect his bride ruled his being. “You need to move on.” Sky said while holding Aidan’s hands in her hands. “I can’t Sky. She had ruined me for others. I can’t leave this hope of her returning to me.” Aidan shook his head, slipping his hands out of Sky's hands. Aidan groaned as he saw tears welling up in Sky's eyes. ”You know how much it pains me to see my brother in law traped in this misery? Can’t you just try for once for me? For the kids? For your family?” Burying her face in her hands a heart-wrenching sob escaped from Sky’s lips. Aidan grimaced. s**t! If Marek found that Aidan had made Sky cry he was definitely going to kill Aidan. Especially in Sky’s state. She was pregnant and Marek was definitely going to lose his s**t over the sight of Sky's tears. “Now stop crying, my dear.” At his words, another sob escaped from Sky’s lips. Aidan bit back a curse. "Alright if you stop crying I will go on a date.” Aidan offered as he rubbed her back soothingly. At his words, Sky instantly lifted her head and grinned at him. Her tears were long gone. “You gave me your words now you can’t back out from your words. If you back out from your words I will find a witch who will curse you to have a small dick.” Sky exclaimed as she got up from beside Aidan. “You sly fox!” Aidan bit out. "You can't blame me. I have learned from the best." Sky winked. Aidan can’t believe he got tricked by her again. But it seems like you reap what you sow. Over the past years, Aidan had emotionally blackmailed Sky countless times. But now his tricks rarely work on her all thanks to his nephews. Dealing with her twin sons had evolved Sky. “I’ll be back with your suit. I don’t want you to mess this up by not putting enough effort into it." Sky called before leaving him in the family room alone. Aidan rubbed his hand over his chest as he suddenly felt a pang in his heart. He frowned. Aidan didn’t know why but he was having a weird feeling about this. He can feel a change in the atmosphere of the Kingdom of Dragons. The air was changing~ It felt like his homeland was telling him about something or someone. His heart was at ease as if his heart knew that his wish was finally going to come true. A change was happening around him. A change he was unaware of but his dragon can sense it. What was he missing?
