An hour was better than nothing, but still not enough to be fully rested. Jack was now heading to the place indicated in his mind, to fight something or someone.
Above the beach hills was the girl with dyed red hair. She looked Jack up and down, with a smile on her face and arms crossed. If he remembered right, his name was Thea something.
"At least you're brave enough to come here, fat guy." The girl said.
"Courage is just the beginning! I just didn't want to have to hit a girl."
Thea leapt toward Jack with a nimble somersault and landed in front of him like a boss.
"Let's do this, you don't underestimate me for being a girl and I don't underestimate you for being a fat cake face."
"Seems fair."
She then took from her pocket something that looked like a cylindrical metal case.
"Didn't think we were going to fight here, right?" She turned the case and opened it. When a light came out from inside and everything that was around Jack changed, they were now somewhere else. "Instant Ephemeral Windows, cool, right?" they were in a stone desert, it almost reminded Jack of Dragon Ball fighting scenarios, those wastelands, but it was night and in the sky there were two moons and thousands of stars. "This Ephemeral Window will close in ten minutes, if you manage to survive in this time I will consider it a victory for you."
"And who guarantees I won't knock you out in that time?"
"I guarantee" Thea gave a confident smile. "Come on, I let you make the first move". Thea made a motion with her hand, calling Jack into combat.
"Alright then, but don't regret it" Jack concentrated the fire magic in his right hand, "FLAMING DODGEBALL!" a fireball took shape, about the size of a volley ball. Jack launched the attack with a lot of energy against the girl.
"Oh, already starting with the spell casting, what an amateur!" Thea dodged easily.
"Yes, but don't think it's over! FLAMING DODGEBALL!!" Jack launched his second attack, hoping that this time the girl couldn't dodge.
"BICYCLE KICK ON FIRE!" The girl jumped and kicked the air as if playing soccer. Her leg caught fire, dissipating Jack's fireball with a kick. After she landed on the ground, she gave Jack a mischievous look. "Did you like it? Well now it's my turn!" The girl took off from the ground like a sprinter and ran towards Jack, starting a hand-to-hand confrontation. Jack dodged the first cross punch she fired, but a hook hit him in the side of the body. After that, she even tried to hit him with a right hook. Jack couldn't do much other than block with his arms and, after that, jump back away. "Don't think you're going to get away that easily, okay?" Thea said, smiling and lunged at Jack again.
This girl is really strong, Jack thought as she approached with a string of quick punches. The boy got into a defensive posture and took the attacks with difficulty. While the rain of punches hit him, he didn't see that the girl stopped with the punches and then and hit him with a kick to the side of his leg, making him fall to his knees. When down, it was easy for Jack to get hit in the middle of the face with a straight right, knocking him backwards into the ground.
"Wow, that was really good to warm me up!" The girl said excitedly, jumping up and down while punching the air, "but... when does the real fight start?"
Jack gritted his teeth, slowly rising to his feet. "I can't just go attacking without thinking, she's too strong for that, I have to think of a plan", the boy thought.
"Yeah, that was fun, I could prove your strength with it."
"That's good, and when will I prove yours?"
"When you least expect it! AAA!" Jack advanced and the two began hand-to-hand combat again. They had roughly matched strength and speed, but the girl sure had more technique. Jack was at a disadvantage, but among so many blocked and counterattacked blows, he managed to graze her. She in turn backed off a little, only to perform her technique the next moment:
"BICYCLE KICK ON FIRE!" And the strong flaming kick hit Jack in the chin from the bottom up, lifting him into the air and dropping him to the ground like a simple sack of potatoes. "Almost this time, boy. If you stand up one more time, I think it's at least worthy of my knowing your name."
"That's right... I haven't even introduced myself yet". Jack stood up with a smug smile on his face despite all the pain. He pointed to his own chest with his thumb. " Yoshi! I'm Jack Zaek, the hero of fire and I say more, I will defeat you!"
"That's the spirit, Jack" Thea smiled in response.
