An Icy Look - (Ethan)

1334 Words
Ethan earned Duel Points through a won basketball match. Yes, it was interesting that there was basketball here in that school, in that world, but as there was a transition between the two worlds, Ethan understood that some things in the world he came from could have influenced this one, and vice versa. Anyway, he would use those points earned to buy some rumors about secret passages at the school, in fact he would like to use those points to buy something for Elza, but obligations came first. He was on his way to the school's sports field to speak with his informant, when he learned of a fight that had taken place nearby and what a surprise he had been when he discovered that it had been Arthur, his friend, who had been defeated. Two members of the school's medical staff took the chosen one to the infirmary on a stretcher, Ethan wanted to know what had happened, but Arthur was out. "Things wouldn't have to happen that way." said someone, so close to Ethan's ear that he could feel the refreshness of his breath against his skin…no, it wasn't refreshing breath, it was COLD breath. Turning to face the speaker, Ethan came face to face with a young man. He must have been his age, spiky white hair, frosty eyes in a icy blue color. "But anyway, isn't that the price of foolishness?" Ethan heard the irony in that guy's voice and began to get irritated. "Who are you? Don't you dare talk about him like that." "Please don't be a mere fool too and act with your head, after all, you are supposed to be the leader of these six warriors, the legendary Six Warriors." Now Ethan was even more confused where this guy had come from? How did he know that? "A lot of questions must be going through your mind right now," continued the mysterious white-haired boy, "as I know this information and the like, I'll get to the point; I think about being your ally, actually, me and my allies, we want to partner with you and your friends, first of all, I tell you my name is Oliver Colwinter, it's a pleasure to finally meet you face to face, Ethan Celestian." "Very well, you really got it right, I do have a lot of questions and I want them filled. Where did you come from? What do you really want to be my ally? How do you know all this stuff?" "To get those answers, Ethan, you're going to need to be my ally, besides, I'd be the one to give you information about the academy's secret passageways, to we get together to the Spellon's treasure. I don't want your Duel Points, Ethan, but I wanted to know if you would have the determination to get enough and the courage to come looking for me. I gladly told you that you have both, congratulations." "What happened to Arthur?" Ethan asked looking straight into those cold eyes. "He was a fool, as I hope you are not. He refused our alliance proposal." "So this is the consequence of refusing your alliance? Violence?" "Not necessarily, my ally offered Arthur a chance, his friend accepted a Fair Fight, then he lost badly, but maybe it was a good thing, since now that thick head can have more sense after taking some beatings." "You have a lot of courage!" Ethan growled, "To say that one of your allies hurt one of my friends and to say that's a good thing! If those are your methods, I refuse to accept your alliances and your information!" "I understand. You, as a good friend, also want to join your friends in the dishonor of defeat, in the pain of a beating, it's an admirable act even for a leader." "How is it?" Ethan growled, "Are you telling me you'd beat me?" "If you think not, then let's test your theory. I say there's not the remotest possibility that you're a threat to me." Ethan took a deep breath and looked that strange guy in the eye once more. "This one's for you, Arthur. Yes, let's start a dispute then, so I'll show you what I'm capable of." "Alright, know that even after I finish you, the proposal will still stand. May your defeat be a show that you and your friends can't even think of being a threat to us. Let's fight." Indira appeared there, she looked desperate and was trying to pull Ethan by the shirt, trying to stop him from fighting, but the boy just ignored it and decided to stick with his decision. ... Ethan went to one of the fight arenas with Oliver, who was even a little taller than him. The arena was a kind of court, but without bars or basketball hoops, and a little bigger, besides a special fence that didn't allow the magical powers to come out and hurt those who watched the fight. The floor was a little soft, like tatami, and she could change it as they liked, with several options in the palette of fields there. They could choose the option of lawn, sand, earth, concrete, among others, and arena would magically change in the chosen option. "I will leave the arena in normal, neutral form." Oliver spoke. They entered. In the arena bleachers, a handful of students watched, and now Ethan was beginning to regret being there. "Ethan?" Elza asked from the arena stands. "What you doing? Is it a fight?" Ethan looked at her. "You are a lucky boy Ethan, she's kind of pretty" said Oliver "maybe after I finish you I can convince her to give me a few kisses." Ethan growled in rage. He finally decided he didn't like this guy. "AAAAAAAAAHHH!" Ethan yelled as he lunged at Oliver. Oliver parried the blow with ease and coolness, then caught him by the collar of his shirt and threw him to the ground. Ethan sprawled on the floor on his back, and was breathless for a few seconds. He got up quickly, and advanced with a string of blows against Oliver, who defended everyone and to finish, punched Ethan in the middle of the face. The boy stumbled back. “He's stronger than I thought”, he didn't want to lose , especially in front of Elza. "LIGHT ATTACK CROSS!" He yelled, summoning his light against Oliver, and those watching the fight ooohed in surprise. Oliver dodged, but Ethan expected it, then once again flashed his light: "LIGHT ATTACK CROSS!!" He screamed. Ethan thought he saw a hint of a smile on Oliver's face, but he wasn't sure. "GLACIAL WALL!!" Oliver yelled, bringing a thick wall of pure, crystalline ice around him. Ethan's magic melted against Oliver's icy wall. Everyone was even more impressed, and even Ethan was stunned. If only he controlled the fire... No, he couldn't be counting on the possibilities, he had to win there. Oliver took advantage of the moment Ethan was thinking to strike him, with a kick to the stomach, and soon after, a kick to the jaw, sending him flying a few feet off the ground. "GLACIAL PILLAR!!" Oliver yelled, sending a massive, thick pillar of ice appearing below Ethan, hitting him in the back. With the impact of the fall, added to the rise of the pillar, as well as the force of the blow and the consistency of it, Ethan felt a latent pain, and screamed as he had never screamed before. "Ethaaan!" He heard Elza scream. He caught a glimpse of the faces of those watching the fight, some impressed, others with pitying looks. He dropped to the ground like a sack of potatoes, motionless. "You're too weak," Ethan heard Oliver say. He also heard Elza's voice shouting her name and then began to fade, but not before hearing Oliver's last words: "I was disappointed, I thought you'd give a good fight. Too bad."
