Arthur was very excited about the idea of the tournament, it was the perfect chance for him to prove himself and he didn't plan on losing. He planned to become stronger than everyone else there, he wanted to triumph as the champion. Amy sent a kind of message through her Student Bracelet, she asked Arthur to meet her near the orchard.
"Your club is really the sensation of the moment, Arthur," said the girl with a smile upon seeing him, "everyone talks about how the Phantom Lord rookies defeated the all-powerful Iron Fist."
"That was interesting but it was in the past" Arthur said, "now I'm envisioning my future, the tournament, getting stronger and winning."
"But the official tournament will take a long time, don't you think?"
"Yeah, a little. I'm going to have to distract myself with my training."
"What if I say there's another tournament here on the academy grounds, a more secret tournament, dirtier and more brutal, but no less interesting.
"What you mean?"
"Underground. It's a tournament known only to the cream of the strongest clubs in the academy...the unofficial clubs, of course, this being a clandestine tournament. I thought you, being part of the sensation of the moment, Phantom Lord, should know."
"That sounds interesting" Arthur gave a confident smile, "I'm in!"
...
Arthur was preparing for action. He had found out with Amy, a clandestine tournament at the academy called the Underground. It was something so secret and hard to find, the Student Council knew nothing (or pretended not to know).
Amy guided him to where the secret tournament was, it was a secret passage in one of the forgotten catacombs of the academy, a place Arthur didn't even know about. There were some guys outside, they wore identifications from a club called Psycho Ghouls and they glared at Arthur when he showed up there with Amy.
"So this is the Phantom Lord guy?" One of the boys asked, looking Arthur up and down, "I don't think it's impressive at all. Is this the Black Wolf?"
"No" Amy smiled hard to decipher, "this one is Arthur Coast, he's the Stone Bull."
"Without me, the Black Wolf wouldn't have defeated the Iron Lord" Arthur said confidently, then he punched his own hand, "I'm strong."
"Alright, I'll let you in here. Amy said you wanted to fight, let's see what this Phantom Lord guys are made of."
When Arthur walked in his ears were invaded by loud noises, rumbles, laughter and a song playing loudly in a style he found to be called "Orc Metal", a kind of brutal and aggressive heavy metal. Arthur liked energetic music but preferred something more classic, AC/DC and stuff like that.
"This is where the most troublesome students come," Amy admitted, "the most troublesome clubs. Some students have even been kicked out of the academy, and live here like stowaways. You could say you're getting to know the academy underworld, Arthur." Amy explained.
"I bet these guys are really strong!" Arthur punched his own hand.
"Yes, they are. Hey, see if it doesn't hurt, okay? If I'm not going to feel a little guilty."
"You can relax. They're going to get hurt." he laughed.
"Be careful."
"Where's the Council? Do they know this happens?"
"They use cloaking instruments, sound mufflers, so you didn't hear anything before entering, among many other devices, they also threaten or bribe Inspectors and Prefects, plus these guys aren't the type to fear the Council, with except, perhaps, for the Prince of Night."
That old dungeon looked like something really out of some kind of g**g underworld, no wonder that tournament was called Underground, it wouldn't surprise Arthur that he met more strong guys there, guys as strong or stronger than Gartham. Ethan wasn't going to approve of that sort of thing, nor the fact that Arthur was there. Amy indicated the place where Arthur could apply and the chosen one did so.
"Who are you?" Asked the clerk "I've never seen him around here."
"Yes. I'm new, I want to fight."
The clerk growled. He looked at Arthur's armband, where the Phantom Lord symbol was.
"Phantom Lord, huh? If you ask me, I don't think you guys are nothing but clowns who got really lucky. But that's okay, if you want to be in this tournament, just tell me the password, nobody comes here without the password. If you don't. have, you're in trouble, kid." Amy had told him the password. How lucky.
"The password is; I'm a sucker."
The clerk tried to hide a chuckle, but failed, laughing out loud afterwards.
"I always laugh at that. Okay, okay, that's right. Tell me your name."
"Arthur Coast." Arthur growled irritated at the man.
The clerk then looked at him for a while and signed him up.
"The first phase consists of a fight of all participants." he said "the top twenty to take down three will be ranked. It might look tough, and it should be. Next!"
Arthur went out, got a number and went out. He heard laughter.
"Gartham didn't want to participate, because he's still sore from the beating he took from that new club!" said a boy laughing a lot.
"i***t, I got over this a long time ago, I'm just not in the mood for, you know, ruining your chances of victory." answers a deep voice. It was Gartham. "Besides, I'm not the only big fish not to participate today."
"Gartham?" Arthur asked.
"Arthur" Gartham smiled "so you heard about Underground, huh?"
"Who is this guy, Gartham?" Asked the boy who was laughing. He had platinum hair, which hung down to the back of his neck and in streaks across his forehead. His look was insane, with a small pupil, was thin and wore a kind of men's cropped top, white and tight, with a leather choker, tight to the neck, which had some metallic spines. He wore white boots, baggy camo pants, and white fingerless gloves. He had rings in both ears. He had his arms open, and in each one there was a girl. At his feet was a Doberman lying down, stark white and with twinkling eyes. He spoke in an abusivee way, as if he were the boss. Gartham laughed.
"This is Arthur" he patted the boy on the back "he's what they call the Stone Bull."
The platinum-haired boy looked interested.
"So it's him, huh?" he said getting up. "Doesn't seem like a big deal to me. A bit… plump."
Arthur punched his hand.
"You've never seen me fight. I'm strong!"
The boy laughed, and so did Gartham.
"I love his way" Gartham said "very confident."
"Excellent." The boy in white replied, "It's nice to break the confidence of these types of people. Stone Bull, tsk tsk. He's barely gained fame and he goes around wanting to fight the biggest dogs."
"Who are you?" Arthur asked already serious.
"I am the leader of the Hell's Dogs" announced the boy, opening his arms, and then the two girls came to dress him in a white velvet robe. On his back was the club symbol, a snarling, sharp-toothed dog with blazing fire blue eyes and goat horns. "I'm Garm, the White Wolf."
