The water splashed all over the swimming pool. I wrapped my legs around Nicolas' waist and gave him a big smile!
He wasn't ready to be pulled into the water by me and couldn't get to the shore because of my legs. At that moment, he could only soak in the pool with me.
"Aliya, hasn't anybody told you that being in such a position with a man in the pool is risky?"
I ignored him. Nicolas looked at me, his eyes wild. I felt his excitement.
I put my arms around his neck and pressed my forehead to his nose. I rubbed against his swimsuit. "If you were my boyfriend, it'd be great, wouldn't it?"
His body tensed up. His breathing was hot.
Just when I thought he was going to cave in, he suddenly reached out and pinched my earlobe, forcing me to turn my face. I ate the pain and frowned, feeling both ashamed and annoyed.
"I only do that with my wife."
A low voice rang in my ear. In the empty swimming pool, this sentence rippled layer by layer, and I was dumbfounded for a moment.
Before I knew it, Nicolas had put on a towel and gone to the men's room.
I was confused. How could there be such a tough guy?
I just wanted him to be my boyfriend for a while. So I could get my inheritance and break up. But marriage? No way!
I asked Paul for a new skirt. Fixed myself up. Wanted to talk to Nicolas. But the waiter said, "Mr. Nicolas left ten minutes ago!"
I was so mad! Nicolas, you dog man!
When I got home, I lay down tiredly on the sofa to relax - I felt like having a drink. The lights in the house were dim and soft, casting a serene atmosphere over the entire living room.
The doorbell rang at this time. I checked the time. It was already ten o'clock in the evening. Who would come to me at this hour?
On the beige sofa, Mrs. Hailey sat up straight. Even though she was almost fifty, she was still stunningly beautiful.
I poured her a glass of red wine and smiled faintly, "Aunt Hailey, I have no clue what brings you here at this time?"
Maybe my attitude was so different from before that this elegant lady didn't answer my question right away. She sipped a mouthful of red wine gently, her eyes revealing a hint of dissatisfaction.
"You wouldn't have been this polite to me before..." She looked into my eyes as she said.
I took a sip of wine casually and still smiled, "Rodin and I used to be boyfriend and girlfriend, and we were going to get married. Of course, we were closer to you back then."
She looked at me quietly.
A moment later, she put down the wine glass and said, " To be honest, I don't like you much... Aliya, you're so beautiful and your personality is too flashy! My son is an outstanding person. His wife doesn't need to be too dazzling. It's enough for her to help him take care of the family and give him enough emotional support! And you..."
I couldn't help laughing out loud, "Is it my fault for being too great?"
"Aliya!" Mrs. Hailey didn't seem to believe that I would interrupt her and frowned.
"If you came here just to say this, forget it! As for the daughter-in-law you're looking forward to, hasn't Rodin found another one for you? Don't waste time on me. Focus on Rodin at the engagement banquet. Let's talk about the woman you fancy."
Mrs. Hailey's face looked sullen. "Know this! Do you know who attended the engagement party of you and Rodin? If this isn't handled properly, your father will pay a steep price!"
She stood up and walked towards me, gently touching my cheek with her fingers. "Aliya, you're beautiful and smart. I think you should understand. This is no longer your concern. I'll have a good talk with Rodin and ask him to apologize to you."
After saying that, she got up directly and was ready to leave.
I didn't get up. I just rested my chin on the back of my hand and waved at Mrs. Hailey, who was on her way out, and asked her curiously, "Aunt Hailey, what if Uncle Ottos was caught in bed by you? Would you forgive him?"
Uncle Ottos dotes on Aunt Hailey big time. Even though their family has accumulated a considerable fortune, he's only got Rodin, a son, and a daughter in junior high, both born to Aunt Hailey.
Their squeaky-clean marriage was one of the reasons why I said yes to Rodin's proposal.
After all, my dad's a total scumbag!
Mrs. Hailey's back stiffened for a moment, and then she left in a hurry.
I gave a sarcastic smile and downed the rest of the wine.
Picking up my mobile phone on the table, I found Nicolas' contact details again, composed a message for him, and then washed up and turned in.
At this juncture, I can't be bothered with Rodin, that b***h!
I've got to handle Nicolas before my dad wakes up to secure my future life.
Men, huh! Who cares a fig!
But at night, I suddenly had a dream about that man.
Back then, I was just a high school freshman. Since I set my goals and dreams a long time ago, I don't pay much attention to other courses except for painting.
When others are studying hard in the library for the teachers' exams, I often wander around the school to seek inspiration for painting.
I met Nicolas on a summer evening. The sky was like an overturned color palette, magnificent and dreamy.
I ran fast on campus, hoping to find the best spot before the beautiful scenery disappeared, and then capture it on my canvas.
The open view of the playground was my first choice.
But I was drawn to the boy who was jumping and shooting on the basketball court.
