Seal My Fate(Ep:2)

[All the guests moved to the backyard where the birthday party is being held.]

Everyone is conversing and having refreshments. Finally Kurt and Melody arrive at the backyard(garden). Everyone smiles at how cute they look.

'Wow daddy! It's beautiful.' Melody cheers excitedly on seeing the decorations of everything she wanted.

'Anything for my Princess.'

Melody laughs and runs off in excitement. She hugs some of her friends then proceeds to sit at her table that has cake,balloons and everything else. The guests cheer and sing happy birthday as Kurt walks over to Melody and whispers in her ear.

'Make a wish sweetheart.'

Melody smile,closes her eyes then blows the candles. Kurt helps her cut the cake and smears a bit of cream on her face.

'It's bad for her skin Kurt.' Ursula complains but Kurt just ignores her.

'Here you go daddy.' Melody grabs a piece of slice from her cake then feeds it to her dad who then feeds her back. She then feeds her mom who does the same. 'Happy birthday sweety. Kurt the speech.' Ursula whispers to Kurt.

'No,you do it.'

'I did it last time.'

'Come on are you serious right now? I can't believe you.' He slightly pushes Ursula aside then begins his speech.

'Hello everyone and welcome.' Guests applaud as he continues. 'Well as you all know today is my daughter,my princess,my Melody's birthday. Everyone who is here is considered family,so you all know how important this day is to Ursula and I. Those of you who don't know much,I'll explain. Melody is a miracle,her mother fell pregnant at 19. Nobody was ready for it,we weren't ready to be parents. We had our whole lives ahead of us. My father he...he disowned me,I guess I just disappointed him. I made a girl pregnant without having anything to my name. I was devastated,I didn't know how I was gonna get through without his support. My wife,Ursula has no parents. She was raised by her aunt and they were barely making ends meet. So there we were,about to become parents. I was homeless and Ursula had nothing. We didn't give up on life though. I wasn't about to give up on her,I loved her since she was 15. We became a team,we thrived together. My good friend,my brother Zak,he took us in. Zak gave me my first job at a construction company. My wife got a job as an office assistant and with that,we managed to rent our first apartment. Oh that wasn't the end of our problems. Three months into the pregnancy,there were complications. More hospital bills,but I never let her go to bed hungry. We kept fighting. Eight months into the pregnancy,I asked Ursula to stop working and take care of herself instead. I worked two jobs. Not long before Mira was born,we were told that our baby would have abnormalities. Mental and physical difficulties. For a moment there my wife wanted to give up. Most nights she was in pain but she kept fighting. She would sing to our baby in her tummy. Finally our baby was born. She wasn't crying,she wasn't breathing. I remember my wife holding her tiny body tightly to chest. She rubbed her little back and started singing to her. I heard her,I heard my baby cry upon hearing her mother sing. Hence I named her Melody and her mother named her Miracle. Melody Miracle Coleman. Our baby was fine even though she took three months to say her first word,dada. My wife and I were elated. Soon after,she started eating and behaving like other kids. Our Melody was okay,she was normal. In those three months I managed to own my very first construction site. I own two now. I also own a textile and property company,Zak my brother. Thank you. My wife owns a beauty spa and a boutique now. We've been together for ten years now and I will always love her for giving me my Miracle. Our Melody,my dear. Happy birthday.'

Kurt completes his speech making everyone applaud. Ursula wipes her tears and also applauds.

I complete my speech then bow my head in thanks. Saying and meaning every single word in my speech brought so much emotions,so many memories and pain. I saw Ursula shed a few tears even though I can never tell if they were genuine. I wipe my eyes then walk to my daughter with a smile.

'That was beautiful daddy.' She says placing her tiny hand on my chin.

'You're beautiful my sweety. So what did you wish for?'

'It's a secret dad but...'

'But what?'

I'm sure you already know.' Melody says looking a bit guilty.

'Melody no I said.'

'Please daddy just dance with mommy please. Just once,for me please.'

'Melody...'

'If you really love me...'

'Fine. But if you ever doubt my love for you again...'

'Never again daddy.' She smiles so sweetly. How can I refuse her when she's pleading so sweetly.

I'll do it,just once,for you.' She excitedly nod as I pull myself together and walk slowly to Ursula who has been silent since my speech. I take her hand and lead her to an open space. We start dancing to an Ed Sheeran song.

'What a coincidence,this song played at our wedding reception.' I say twirling Ursula then putting my hands around her waist.

'Our first dance,It's like the dj knew. Your speech...it was beautiful.' She says looking into my eyes.

'Yea.' We continue dancing until the song comes to an end. Everyone applauds but Melody applauds even louder with a big smile on her face. Everyone takes pictures with Melody then hit the dance floor. Melody dances with her friends then explores the decorations.

Kurt grabs a pack of his beers and walks over to sit by the bench with Zak.

'So,how is it going?' Zak asks opening two beers and handing one to Kurt.

'It's tough bro,I'm trying but...'

'Is she trying?'

'Not at all,It's like...it's like she's tired.'

'So what now? I mean,I hate seeing you like this. You have to do something,maybe...end it?'

'I thought about it but...I just look at Melody and...' Kurt pauses looking at Melody with a sad smile,she's just playing around.

'Brother you're way too young to be going through all of this.'

'Don't you think I know that? (Gulps his beer) I've dedicated my life to raising Melody. She's my priority,she's my world. Even if it means putting my happiness aside. I can't just...abandon my family.'

'I understand but pal...'

'Kurt...' That's Ursula interrupting their conversation standing infront of Kurt.

'Yea?'

'Melody is waiting for her gift.'

I'll be right there.'

'Like now.'

'Ursula I said I'll be right there geez.' She shakes her head then walks away. 'Dude I gotta go give my baby her gift.' Kurt says standing from the bench.

'What did you get her anyway?'

'You'll see,she's gonna love it. Come on.'

Kurt and Zak walk over to the garage then bring Melody's gift.

'Hey baby I got your gift.' Kurt says as they place the box down.

'Wow daddy such a big box! What is it?'

'Close your eyes.' Melody closes her eyes as Kurt unwraps the gift. 'Now open them.' She slowly opens her eyes and they glow with excitement.

'A car daddy!' She screams smiling widely. It's a red kids Mercedes. 'Ahhhhh thank you so much! Dad of the year!' Melody hugs her dad then runs to her new car. Kurt looks at Ursula and she shakes her head in disbelief. 'Mommy I love the tiny piano but this is the best gift ever.'

Everyone looks happy and excited except for Ursula. They all continue having fun. The cake is cut and shared amongst everyone. It's almost 8pm,the party comes to an end. Kurt and Ursula bid farewell to their guests,The dj is paid then also leaves.
