Chapter 4: New Guy

1220 Words
I was desperate to escape this marriage, but my circumstances left me no choice. The thought of marrying Alpha, our pack leader, made my heart race with anxiety. I woke up that morning feeling more nervous than ever before. Today was the day I would become Alpha's wife. "I hope nothing bad happens today," I whispered to myself as I stretched my body, trying to calm my nerves. Cheryl's words echoed in my mind, warning me that this marriage would ruin my life. And she wasn't wrong. I had seen her sleeping with Alpha, my future husband, and the one who would become Luna in our group after this. It was a painful betrayal, but I couldn't go against the pack's will. As I got ready, the Gamma girls helped me put on a beautiful white dress and did my hair. Even though it was a forced marriage, I had to look my best in front of the alphas and the delegates from the other packs we had invited. I felt like a princess. When I looked in the mirror, I hardly recognized myself. It should have been perfect, if only it wasn't a forced marriage. The wedding took place in a beautiful clearing in the forest, surrounded by tall trees and colorful flowers. The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow over everything. As I walked down the aisle, I saw Alpha waiting for me at the altar. He looked very handsome in his suit. I could see the guilt on his face; he didn't seem to want this wedding either. But what choice did we have? The rules had been broken, and as the leader, Alpha had to take responsibility. The wedding was quick. Alpha kissed me on the forehead, and our vows were legally binding. Everyone applauded. But my heart was racing. "Why is everything going so smoothly?" I asked myself. I was scared. For some reason, my gut was telling me that something terrible was going to happen after this. I scanned the room, searching for any sign of Cheryl, but she was nowhere to be found. My suspicions grew stronger. After the ceremony, we made our way to the reception, which was held in a large tent nearby. The decorations were stunning, and the food looked delicious. Everything seemed perfect, until it wasn't. Just as we sat down to eat, chaos erupted. Some of the guests began to feel nauseous, and soon they were vomiting everywhere. I couldn't believe what was happening. "What's going on?" I whispered to myself. Beta, one of Alpha's pack members, began to sniff the food, frowning in confusion. "There's nothing wrong with the food," he said, and the other Alpha guards agreed. That's when I noticed something. The people who were vomiting had all eaten my wedding cake earlier. But Alpha and I hadn't touched it, afraid of getting our clothes dirty. I mentioned this to Beta, and sure enough, there were traces of poison on my and Alpha's wedding cake. It wasn't a lethal dose, but enough to cause chaos and ruin the event. "This has to be Cheryl's doing," I whispered to myself. I hadn't seen her in a while, and I was certain she was behind this. As the chaos continued, the alphas of the other packs began to protest the wedding. Poisoning the Alpha of another pack was a serious offense, and it was starting to look like a declaration of war. But just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, a putrid smell filled the air. It was so strong that it made my eyes water and my stomach churn. I looked around, trying to find the source, but I couldn't see anything. Suddenly, someone threw a bucket at me. I couldn't see their face, but the bucket contained something foul. It soaked my wedding clothes, leaving me feeling humiliated and embarrassed. The Alpha was too busy trying to calm the other alphas down to notice what had happened to me. I was left standing there, alone and ashamed, as everyone stared at me. ** It took me forever to convince Alpha that I needed to wash up immediately. The stench of the bucket of liquid that had been thrown at me was overwhelming, and I could feel the disgust from the guests. I knew that this wedding party would be the talk of the town, but not in a good way. Food poisoning and a bride doused in animal feces was not the way I wanted to be remembered. Exhausted and too tired to cry, I staggered towards the river, wishing for this day to end quickly. As I reached the river, I took off my ruined clothes and jumped into the water. The cool water felt good on my skin, and I began to cry as I washed myself clean. The rest gave me strength, and the arrival of strength provoked me to cry again. I didn't know how to face everyone again. I felt like a total failure. "Why? Why does it have to be like this?" I hissed softly. "Can't I be happy?" I didn't want the wedding, and at the wedding, I was humiliated. I was sure that everyone in our pack would blame it on me, and I would definitely be seen as a troublemaker for the pack. I knew it, I understood it. It's like the decision to expel me will come out later. I'm pretty sure I'll be kicked out of the pack after this. While I was lost in thought, I heard the sound of water splashing behind me. I turned around and saw a man standing there, also naked. He was washing his clothes in the river, and I could see that his clothes were covered with vomit. It seemed that he was one of the victims of the food poisoning at my wedding. I was shocked and embarrassed to be seen naked by a stranger, but he didn't seem to notice or care. He just kept washing his clothes as if it was the most normal thing in the world. After a while, he looked up and saw me. Our eyes met, and I felt a strange connection between us. He was handsome, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. He looked like he was from another pack, but I didn't recognize him. We stood there for a moment, just looking at each other. I felt a strange mixture of emotions. We were both naked and no words came out of our mouths. "I didn't expect to see a bride bathing alone in the river, this is a new thing," the man said to me. "Well, normally the bride would spend her day with the groom and go to the room and have s*x. While I'm here showering naked because my whole body smells like cow dung." "My name is Conrad, of the Heaven Claw tribe," he introduced himself, as if he didn't care about my naked body, or that I saw his naked body. I also followed the style of this man and introduced myself. "My name is Mari," I said briefly. "Mari, huh? You're the wife of the Alpha of your pack, but you're not treated like Luna. Are you really married?" the man asked, and that made me pause.
