Experiments, Magic and Starvation

358 Words
3rd POV Years had passed since Jupiter was admitted into the asylum and day by day, she became more and more non-verbal. Only now and then would she spout nonsense no one could understand. And even when she did talk, no one was listening. She truly seemed insane. Though through her eyes, her grandmother always talked to her, telling her stories and helping her through her hard times. All Jupiter would do is nod along, looking more and more distraught and depressed as the days went by. Did her mother truly not care for her? And what of Kathrine? Emily? Even Marcus? No one had been by. No one seemed to care enough for her. So every night, she would bow her head and fold her hands, to whom she was praying even she didn't know. Anyone who would listen would do. But she begged, begged for a better life, for people to care for her.  Jupiter was about seven when her doctor started the experiments. He would inject countless strangely colored liquids into Jupiter- who if struggled would be strapped to the table. The needles where always long and fairly dull, it would take a couple tries before actually inserted into her arm. Every injection never seemed to have any effect. At least, outward. But because of the injections, Jupiter couldn't think straight, not anymore. She couldn't comprehend anything- so she went silent. Her grandmother was always there and while no one was looking, she taught Jupiter magic. Of course they started small, a simple levitation spell, but as Jupiter got older, her skill set in magic only amplified. She had quickly went through her family's grimoires, learning and practicing until she learnt everything her family knew.  But as Jupiter grew, her hope and joy faded and she stopped eating. So much so her body became small and frail. Her once healthy curly brown hair was almost always greasy or tangled. She stopped caring.  In May, 1832 Jupiter Rose died at age 14 of starvation. A month later, the other patients at Mystic Falls Mental Institution started a riot, resulting in the institution burning to the ground.
