Episode 16: Lunch

-Third Person’s POV-

After the morning defense combat training with Jace, Claire went to the kitchen to check what’s for lunch. There she saw Anna, the Pack chef, and nutritionist. She told her that they prepared a hefty meal for them. They prepared rice, grilled pork belly, sinigang with salmon (sinigang is a Filipino soup or stew characterized by it’s sour and savory taste often associated with tamarind), buttered garlic shrimp and crab, beefsteak, and grilled milkfish.

Anna is a Filipino who has been with them for almost 2 decades. She is loyal to Clementine’s and Thomas’s ever since she first steps into the Blue Moon pack territory. Anna is one hundred percent human and her mate is one of the gammas of her dad. Since she is mated and marked by the gamma, Anna is now a wolf herself, but she mainly focused on the kitchen to make sure that all the warriors in their pack get enough nutrients they need. At the age of thirty-six, she still looks young compared to others she-wolves their age. She has a brown complexion and long black straight hair plus hazelnut brown eyes. She is the only Filipino Human wolf in the pack and well-loved by everyone.

-Anna’s POV-

“Alpha Claire, is there anything you want to request for dessert? I heard you did well earlier in training the defense combat with the she-wolves.” I asked as Claire smelled the foods lined up at the dining table.

“Can you make me some banoffee pies and black forest trifles?” I giggled with excitement as those are 2 of my favorite desserts that Anna only prepares whenever there is an occasion.

“Of course! I'll have that prepared while you go freshen up before lunch” I smiled and went back to the kitchen to start working on the pies and trifles.

-Claire’s POV-

I went straight to my room to rest for a few minutes and freshen up. I can feel my stomach crying already as didn’t have breakfast this morning.

While picking up my clothes, I remembered that mom mentioned she has a long-lost friend in Withry Valley. The only friend she had before they left. Mikhail Romanov whose family is from the vampire bloodlines. Mikhail was 8 and Julia was 4 when they both met.

I can first get some reinforcement from the Romanov’s and form an alliance. Hopefully, he can still remember my mom and I can get him to fight along our side.

After I finish putting on my black cotton shorts and white fitted V-neck t-shirt, I put my hair in a messy bun and sprayed my favorite Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue perfume. I went back to the dining and noticed that Blake is already waiting for me together with Jace.

-Blake POV-

Seeing Claire as she approached the dining table with her comfortable clothes all freshened up made me smile. She looks like a goddess who is about to have her lunch.

“Smells good!” Jace said while looking at Claire

I growl at Jace and told him to shut up as I can’t stand someone telling that to my mate

“Hey…hey…hey…hold it! I’m talking about the foods that Anna prepared” Jace chuckled

“Shut up and don’t stare at Claire, it’s like you want to eat my mate!” I smirked and gave him an irritated look. My brother just laughed out loud and continued staring at Claire

-Claire’s POV-

“Hey, guys! How was the training and the patrol?” I asked looking back and forth between Jace and Blake.

“Everything good?” I asked again since both did not respond.

“Everything went well Claire. Ask you possessive mate if he is good!” I heard Jace laughed as he started to grab the rice and put some on his plate.

I grabbed the chair next to Blake while waiting for him to respond.

“So, Blake, how was the patrol and your meeting with Lucid this morning?”

-Blake’s POV-

“Lucid is now informed and Alpha Leon will have more of his warriors join us. They will be arriving tonight before you leave for Withry”

“You know very well that I am against you going there alone Claire. But I also know you made up your mind and this is the best option for us. We will accompany you to the Blue Mountains tonight as there might be some witches and rouges in the border. I’ll have John and some of the Lucid Warriors in Blue Mountain to patrol while you are in Withry Valley. So, you have support just in case” I stopped talking when I noticed Claire and Jace enjoying the food.

“I need to remain here in the pack territory to lead the warriors for any attacks while you're gone. Make sure to mind link me if you need help, please. You are already throwing yourself in danger, so please do not cut off your mind link while in Withry”

“Thanks for understanding Blake, yes, I will let you know everything, and I will not cut off our mind link. Fair enough?” Claire smiled and continued to enjoy the feast.

As we are about to finish, Anna appeared from the Kitchen with her newly baked banoffee Pie and black forest trifle. Claire jumped off the chair out of excitement like a child and giggled. I couldn’t help but smile, my mate is tough as hell but can also be childish and sweet at the same time…
