Two days later

Valtheria's POV

I'd had enough with the meetings and the troubles.

I was just 21.

Why was nothing going well?

"Can't they just see that all I want is to make everything work in this Kingdom?"

I asked,my voice echoing in the empty hallways, sauntering down,my wine colored silk gliding behind me like a personal entourage,the subtle gold stitchings around the cuffs of my sleeves...... giving me more courage than I felt at the moment.

I Stopped at the garden, I hadn't even know where I was going; I looked up at the sky as if waiting for an answer

"Why are you outside this late?...... your Majesty"

I smiled,the kind of smiles I only reserved for my friends. Confidants

"I could ask you the same thing..... Captain"

"I'm on night patrol,your Majesty"

I turned to look at him; he looked just as I remembered.

Light skin,his blue eyes sparkling under the moonlight; his black hair that was always neatly arranged

"Theren" My voice sounded foreign with my shoulders slumped

"Val?"

He stood a bit closer, opening his arms, tilting his head in a playful gesture.

I melted in his embrace,the familiarity of it all almost brought tears to my eyes.

"Why are you really out Val?"

"I'm tired Theren, the meetings,the always having to prove myself, I've been Queen for two days and I already feel like giving up,things were much easier when we were kids"

"I agree Valtheria,but I'm here.... Like I've always been,I'm your best friend for a reason"

"Chocolate and Milk?" I asked bringing out my pinky finger

"Milk and Chocolate, forever" He brushed my deep brown hair as the breeze blew across my caramel skin.

"You think they also don't like the fact that I'm black. T"

"They are dumb to not like you just cause you're black Val,you have a meeting with one of the neighboring kingdoms tomorrow,get some rest"

"I will"

I released myself from his embrace,placing a quick peck to his cheek and left

"Has everything been done?" A figure spoke his partner who was just arriving beside him

"Yes"

"Good,now we wait"
