“What did you give him?” Lewis yelled in his face, fear and anger coursing through his veins. “Did you slip something in his drink? What did you do?” Lewis shook him and the man’s head lolled, but he didn’t answer.
Before he hit him again, Lewis dropped him and walked away. Sirens were screaming in his ears and he sat at Aaron’s side, pushing the hair off of his friend’s sweaty forehead.
“You’ll be okay. Everything will be okay,” he said soothingly.
Aaron’s eyes tried to focus on his face before he sighed laboriously and went limp in Lewis’s arms.
