“Pancakes are done!” Alex turns around and sets four plates on the table with three, fluffy, delicious looking and oh-so-sweet smelling pancakes. “There’s syrup too, but I don’t think you’ll need it. These things are pretty moist.” Anna and I cringe at the same time. “What, you don’t like the word moist?” He draws out the word and we cringe again.
“Alex! Stop it! It’s so… ugh! Just stop please!” I beg. He sits down next to me and kisses my cheek.
“Anything for you, my love.” He slides my plate in front of me and rest his head on his elbows. “Now, let’s see what you and Lucas think about my fabulous pancakes.” A funny evil grin sweeps across his face, and I roll my eyes.
“Oh I am SO ready!” Lucas cheers and digs right in. His face lights up, and he moans. “Holy s**t Al, you’ve got some competition right here!” I raise an eyebrow, and grunt.
“Traitor.” I still my tongue out and look back at my plate. They smell so good, I think my mouth is starting to water. I cut a decent piece, and lift the strawberry and cream cheesy goodness up to my eye level. I take a sniff, and I look over at Alex. “If these are better than mine, than we are going to have some serious issues.” I take the bite, and I moan just a bit louder than Lucas. The flavour explodes in my mouth, and I can’t help but stuff another big bite into my mouth. “This issh so delishhouse.” I say with my cheeks full. Alex laughs, and leans back into his chair.
“So, I think I win? Am I the winner?” He laughs again. “You’ve got a bit of cream cheese on your cheek.” He reaches to wipe it, and I swat his hand away.
“No touchy my creamy cheese, I’m not wasting ANY of this!” All four of us laugh, and I quickly notice that I’m almost finished my plate. As I take the last bite, I drop my fork on the table and slide my plate forward. I wipe the cream cheese off of my cheek, and lick my fingers. I lean back in my chair and stick out my stomach. “I should’ve stopped at the second one, but it was too good to stop.” I pat my happy tummy, and Anna rolls her eyes.
“Honey, I hate to break it to you, but I think these are better than your peanut butter cup pancakes.” I drop my jaw, and scoff in disgust.
“Okay, rude, we were seeing who had the best strawberry pancakes, not the best over all. Just for that, you don’t get any the next time I make some.” I pout. Alex laughs at me again, so I stand up in frustration and grab everyone’s plates. Alex stands up too, and tries to take them away from me.
“Hey I got it, I’ll wash them.” He takes the plates from me, and I smile and sit back down.
“I’ve said it twice and I’ll say it again; that is a man after my own heart.” I plop beside Anna, swing my head back and drop my hand over my heart. “He knows what to say, what to do, and is such a kind gentleman. You would have never thought that his father is such a hateful being.” I stare over at Alex in awe as he places the silverware in the drying rack. We have a dishwasher, but I don’t complain as it’s strangely sexy to see him in the kitchen.
“I can only imagine what he’s like in the bedroom.” I think Anna forgot that we weren’t alone, because Lucas just choked on his orange juice and Alex’s mouth dropped open.
“Anna!” All three of us say in unison. She shrugs her shoulders and holds her hands up.
“Hey, I’m just sayin’ what she’s probably thinking… unless you guys have already-”
“Anna! Shut UP!” I smack her arm. “You are unbelievable sometimes.” I blush, and Alex does too. Lucas scoots his chair out and clears his throat.
“Well, I think I’m gonna head to the gym, and try to forget that that just happened. Thanks for the cakes man.” I stand up with him.
“Yep, I’m with you on that one. I’ll meet you there?” He nods and quickly walks down the hall.
“You guys are such pansies. Relax a little.” Anna get sup from her chair and pats my back. “I expect full details whenever you two seal the deal.” She whispers. I shrug her hand off and roll my eyes. She walks down to the bathroom and she winks at me over her shoulder. I shake my head and give Alex an ‘I’m sorry my best friend is a total loudmouth’ look.
“Hey, we’ve all got that one friend in our lives that just knows exactly how to make everything awkward for everyone but themselves.” He laughs. He walks over to me and pulls me in for a hug. “So, peanut butter cup pancakes?” He hums. “I’m gonna have to give those a taste some time.” We sway in our hug, and I let out a happy sigh.
“I think I can make that happen some day. As long as you never stop making those amazing pancakes of yours.” I snuggle into his chest, and squeeze him tight. “I wish we could just lay around all day.”
He pulls back and holds my cheek. “Same here, but I think I could use a workout too. Let’s go see Lucas and maybe him and I can have a rematch.” He chuckles and then leans in for a kiss. I push my lips into his, and I wrap my arms around his neck. He tangles his fingers in my hair, and I moan as he gently pulls my head back and kisses my neck. “Maybe we can have a rematch of our own.” His voice is raspy from the kiss, and I can feel him slightly harden against me. I run my hand down his chest and stop just above the elastic of his boxers, and playfully push him back.
“Maybe. You’ll just have to wait and see.” I tease. “Come on, I want to spar.”
We reach the training room, and Lucas is throwing rounds into a punching bag. I walk over to the supply table and grab some wrist straps, and begin to wrap my hands. For some reason I can’t get my wrap right, and I start over for the third time. Seeing my frustration, Alex takes my hand and removes the cloth. I hop up on the table and I look up at him as he begins to perfectly wrap my hands.
“You’re just full of surprises, aren’t you? What can’t you do?” I tilt my head and tuck it under his so he looks at me.
“Well, I have never been able to properly cook pasta unless it’s in a lasagna, and I can’t drive stick. I also don’t know how to tie a tie.” He says confidently. He smiles back at me and starts wrapping my other hand.
“Where did you learn to wrap like that?” I look at his work on my completed hand, and I see that it’s wrapped perfectly around each finger, and is snug against my wrist. Not too tight, but not too loose either. The end is tucked in beside my thumb, and my knuckles are perfectly cushioned.
“I took up boxing in high school. I was 17, and wanted to learn how to fight because none of the other vamps would teach me. I won a few medals at tournaments but I stopped when my mom went missing.” He finishes wrapping my other hand, and rubs my thighs. “I can’t wait to have these legs wrapped around my face.” He says in a low, sexy tone. I blush and and lean my chest into his. He slides his hands up to my ass, and gives me a squeeze. “But, we’ll have to wait and see how the day goes.” Jerk.
I hop off the table and walk into our makeshift fighting ring. “Alright, who’s going first?” I ask as Lucas walks up.
“Ladies choice.” He says. I call him into the circle with my hands, and I kick my slippers off to the corner. I get into my stance, and wait for him to begin. “Defence, or offence?” He asks.
“Surprise me.” I say with a smirk. I see Alex take a seat off to the side, and Lucas gets low in front of me. He makes the first move and he goes for my right leg. I jump over his sweeping foot and land a punch to his jaw. He shakes his head and we begin to circle. “Come on, the leg again? Are you really gonna pull the same moves every time we spar?” I taunt. Suddenly I’m up in the air over Lucas’ shoulder, and before he can smack me on the ground I swing my legs up and slam him down on his stomach. We roll and stand back up, and he spits off to the side.
“Well that was unexpected. Didn’t think you’d react so quickly.” He shakes his arms and begins to bounce on his feet.
“Hey, Goddess of War, remember?” I wink. He lunges at me again and I catch his arm mid-punch. I swing his arm around his back and kick the back of his right knee, and he drops down. I put my leg over his left arm, and rest my thumb against his neck as if I were to cut him. He lets out a sigh, and hangs his head. I let him go, and I crouch next to him. “Looks like you need a bit more practise, Lucille.” I laugh and push him over.
“Hey! I told you to stop calling me that!” He whines.
“Hey, it’s not my fault you were named after your grandmother!” I laugh. I see Alex double over in a laughing fit and he walks over to us. I stand up and reach a hand out to Lucas, but he swats it away and gets up on his own.
“Hmph. Not cool Al, not cool.” Alex and I can’t help but laugh again, and this time Lucas joins us. “Alright alright alright, the laughing at Lucas can stop now.” He says. “Let’s see if Alex has any luck kicking your ass.” He sneers.
“Oh, I’d rather watch you two go another round before she tries to beat me in a match.” He wraps an arm around my shoulder, and gives me a light squeeze. I look back at Lucas, and before I can make fun of him again, Alex has spun me around and pushed me back. “In saying that, I did say I needed to workout. So let’s see if my moves are as good as my pancakes.” He laughs. He gets into a slight crouch, and I follow suit.
“Keep dreamin’ boy, I’ve never lost a fight in this ring.” I wink.
“May the best hybrid win.” He holds his hand out, and I make the stupid move to reach out to shake it. He pulls me in and turns me around into a bear hug, and I slide down out of his arms and spin back around. “Rule number one, never let your opponent catch you off guard.” Lucas chuckles behind me. I squint my eyes and pout.
“Rude.” I say. We start up again, and I try to trick him by stepping forward with my left leg, but he reaches around and picks up my right one. He pushes me back and then I’m laying on the floor. I roll away from him, and swipe his legs from under him. I jump on top, and before I can pin his arms, he lifts his hips and throws me forward. I roll into a somersault and jump back up on my feet. I raise an eyebrow and tilt my head.
“Oh, I forgot to mention that I used to wrestle in high school too. State champion two years in a row.” He winks. I drop my mouth and furrow my brow.
“Again, rude!” We start up again, and we go for another twenty minutes before we’re both sweating buckets and running out of energy. Alex loses his stance a bit, and I grab him into a headlock and spin him onto the ground. He breaks my grip, takes my hand and flips me around, and pins me on my back. He lightly rests his arm on my neck, and suddenly I’m horny.
“Pinned.” He teases. He kisses my nose and flops over onto his back. We both lay there panting, and I hear Lucas tip toe up in front of me.
“So, it looks like you might have spoken too soon about never losing in the ring.” He laughs, and the next moment he’s gasping for air because I kicked his feet out from under him. We all laugh and lay there for a minute. I sit up on my elbows and lean over to Alex.
“I don’t think that should count. I was stuffed with pancakes! I want a rematch!” I pout. He sits up and pats my shoulder.
“I never thought of you as a sore loser.” He jokes. I hear Lucas laugh next to me, and I smack my hand down on his gut.
“Stop laughing! By my count, I technically beat you twice.” I look back over at Alex. “You guys suck. I’m going to go take a shower.” I roll over and get up. I sulk out of the gym and give them both the stink eye. I stick my tongue out as they both laugh at me again, and I walk out and head to my room. I pop into my closet and grab a deep blue bra, and matching lace panties. I pick out a pair of light wash jeans, and a black off the shoulder crop top. I take off my sweaty shirt, and kick off my workout capris and shove them into my basket. I open the door and run smack into Alex’s hard, sweaty chest.
