A Confession

Soraya lowered her head, just as she had previously told David, James and Kimberly. Whatever she said now and whatever she confessed, it still wouldn't change anything. Everything had already happened, the explanation would be unbelievable considering that the people involved in the matter had already left. Kerry died and Joshua disappeared without a trace. Mrs Carla took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She knew what she was doing now wouldn't work enough to get Soraya to confess. If she had been silent from the start, so what made her speak now? "Follow me!" Mrs Carla grabbed Soraya's hand and led her to her room. Soraya couldn't refuse, she just resigned herself to following Mrs Carla who was walking in front of her. "Sit down!" She said asking Soraya to sit on a chair, while she prepared two cups of tea and served them on the table. Soraya was still looking down, but unlike before, this time she seemed resigned to what had happened to her and the problems that had befallen her. Mrs Carla pulled up a chair and took a seat across from Soraya. She sat down with a sigh, hoping that this time Soraya could tell her what was really going on between her and Kerry Smith. "Can I get the things in the room?" Soraya asked quietly. "I'm not sure, but there are some things you can't pick up because they're still under police investigation!" "My things have nothing to do with her actions! I want to take my things back. My clothes, shoes, books, bags and photo albums. Phone charge and laptop too. How can I study if all my belongings are confiscated?" "But that's the procedure, we can't do-" "Why can not...?" She screamed in frustration. Mrs Carla was surprised because Soraya suddenly shouted and looked very angry. She felt very concerned about this girl, her face showed clearly how depressed she was facing all these problems even though she had only been living in this city for three months. Soraya's eyes started to get wet and red, she was trying hard to hold back her tears. Her hands that were resting on her knees trembled. A few tears fell down the back of her hand. Soraya wept silently. "I understand your feelings, but I can't do anything about it either. Especially if you don't want to tell me anything. What can I do?" "I didn't do anything! She died of her own volition. She keeps bothering me, every time with her sickening cries. She keeps asking me what she should do without her missing boyfriend? She says she can't live without that jerk! She whines and tortures me every day! I hate her! I hate her so much! But, even though I hate her so much, I never wanted her to die. I never thought she would actually die!" "Is her complaint so bothersome? Why don't you try to listen to her and give her some advice? You guys are roommates, right? If you could just have a nice talk with her, she'd be-" "It's useless!" "Soraya?" "As I thought, it's useless for me to tell anyone. You won't believe me!" "Soraya, it's not like that! I thought-" "Kerry and her boufriend, they've ruined my life!" "Soraya, what did you say?" "I never let her bring her boyfriend into our room! I hate every time she locks the door and doesn't let me in every time she has s*x with her asshole in my bed! I-I'm always patient. I tried to hold it all in and I hope she can understand! Yet they keep threatening me! They threaten that I won't be able to live in peace if I don't follow their game! I-" Tears welled up in her eyes. The pressure she felt made her unable to contain the pain in her heart anymore. In front of her, Mrs Carla was silent with a shocked face, as if she couldn't believe what Soraya had said. "Soraya, is what you said true? Is that how it happened?" "I don't know! I don't care if you believe it or not. Because it's useless, everything has happened. Kerry is dead and that bastard disappeared after what he did to me! He disappeared." "Joshua? What has he done to you? Did he threaten you? Did he hurt you? Tell me, what did he do to you, Soraya?" "He r***d me!" "r**e?" "Yes, in the art warehouse two days after Diana disappeared." She said with a straight face. "Oh my God! How did that happen? Why didn't you report it? Why did you keep quiet?" "I didn't know what to do! I felt like I was having a bad dream. He was strangling my neck with a shoelace. At that moment I thought I was going to die soon. But then I saw him pass out, just before I lost consciousness!" "What happened after that? Did anyone help you? Did any witnesses see what happened?" "I don't know who helped me, when I woke up, I woke up under a tree. I found a young man who was also being tortured by that bastard at the same time. However, he fainted before that bastard did that to me!" "Oh my God, what's really going on? Aren't you going to tell someone about this problem? Or ask someone for help?" Mrs Carla was asking so many questions. She was so panicked and anxious, she could hardly believe what she was hearing. "No! I didn't tell anyone! I was afraid he would kill me if he found out I told someone or reported what he did to the police. I hate him, I hate him so much. I wish he were dead and gone forever from my life!" *** In the end, she left the place with nothing. Mrs Carla insisted on forbidding her to take her belongings with her until the police had given her permission. Although she promised that she would help Soraya to get back her belongings. "Huh... what did I say? Why did I tell her everything?" Soraya was silent weakly as she took a deep breath. She felt sorry for revealing the secret she had been hiding. She didn't know if Mrs Carla would believe her story or if she grew suspicious of her. Soraya knew she had no choice and the only way she could defend herself at the last moment was to tell her everything that had happened. 10 meters in front of her, she saw a young man walking by looking at the ground like she was looking for something. She even tried to scavenge the trash with a restless face. Soraya tried to observe the young man who felt familiar to him. Slowly she began to recognize the figure, she was the young man who had been held captive and beaten unconscious in the warehouse and he was also the one who collided with her in the corridor on the same day Diana disappeared. Soraya felt that Joshua's disappearance had something to do with the young man. Indeed, that night, it was Soraya who woke up first from her stupor and found the young man lying unconscious on the grass without the slightest trace of blood that originally filled his face. Hurrying up, Soraya ran and approached the young man. She wanted to talk to him, she wanted to know what had happened between him and Joshua Peterson and why Joshua hit him that afternoon. "Hi, how are you?" Soraya asked when she was less than two meters away from the young man. Hearing a girl suddenly approach and talk to him, the young man gasped in surprise and turned to Soraya. "Y-you?" "I was with you when Joshua kept us in the art storehouse. Do you remember me?" Ask Soraya firmly. The young man looked restless and tried to think of something. "Y-yes, I remember you. You're Soraya Chamberlain, aren't you?" ***
