The Shadow

"No, I-" Soraya didn't know, how to tell this young man about the strangeness she was starting to feel. Soraya noticed that no one was seen in this place apart from the two of them. This place is dark and quiet. But what made her even more confused was who had helped them and brought them out of the warehouse. "Uhuuukkk..." The young man coughed. Blood came out of his mouth, he winced in pain in his stomach. "It's hurts so bad..." "Wait here a moment! I'll get help-" "No! Don't go yet, it's too dangerous to go alone. What about Josh? Where did he go?" He asked. Soraya was stunned, she did not expect that this young man also did not know where Josh was. "I don't know, but I don't care." She said. Soraya saw her bag under the tree where she had been lying a few minutes ago. She opened her bag and looked for her phone. Soraya found her phone in an inactive state with a cracked screen. She just remembered that Josh had kicked her phone when she was trying to call the police. "My phone is broken! What can I do? I'll get help. You can wait here a moment. I'll be right back!" She said. Soraya felt pain all over her body, she knew this was really bad. She had just experienced terrible violence and abuse. But now she is looking for help to save others. "Ugh...it hurts..." She stopped walking and winced, feeling an intense pain in her thighs. Soraya knew the university environment was very broad. It's hard to get somewhere in a short time, especially when she has to walk like this. 10 meters in front of her, Soraya saw a man who seemed to be a campus guard standing near the main gate. Soraya ran with great difficulty to him. "Sir...! Sir, can you help me?" She screamed. Soraya felt relieved because it seemed like someone could help her. The man turned to her, looking at her confused. With teary eyes, Soraya approached the man, hoping that her suffering today would end soon. "Miss, what's wrong? Why are you still here at this time of night?" Asked the guard confused. He glanced at his watch, it was 10:30 pm. His face looked worried, especially seeing Soraya's chaotic condition made him immediately think something bad had happened to this young woman standing in front of him. "Sir, be- behind the art faculty building. There's an injured young man. Can you help him?" She asked breathlessly. Soraya felt that she would soon pass out if she remained in this place. She was very tired, scared, sick and hungry. She wanted to immediately rest in her room and try to forget all the terrible things she experienced today. "Miss, you are also injured. I will call an ambulance, wait here for a moment!" "No, Sir! I'm fine! But that guy, he's injured and he doesn't seem to be able to walk. I asked him to wait there, that's why I beg of you to help him!" "Okay, I'll be right there! You wait here, I'll try to contact my comrades who are on patrol!" Said the guard as he invited Soraya to sit at the guard post, before he finally went to the place where the young man was waiting for help. Soraya was afraid, even though the place was well-lit and safe. But she remained alone here. The security guards had not yet arrived and Soraya couldn't wait any longer. She decided to go alone to the dorm and hoped she would never see Josh again. Like her previous worries, the place is deserted even though the lighting is much better than before Diana disappeared. Tomorrow, the police will come to this place and once again try to explore every corner of the place they believe to leave clues that can help them. Soraya walked faster as the night wind blew away the dry, fallen leaves. She was too scared to remember that 50 meters from where ahe stood was the last place she had seen Diana that afternoon. Soraya was almost at the front door of the dormitory, from here, she could see the park bench where she and Diana had been sitting that afternoon. Strangely, she saw someone's shadow reflected from the garden lights. "Who? Who's there? Who's there at this time of night?" She thought. Tuk...tuk...tuk... The atmosphere was so quiet that she could hear the sound of slow footsteps walking around the park. Soraya saw no one, only black shadows reflected and footsteps that sounded just like in her dream. "No! That's impossible. Is that Josh? He must still be around here, he must-" "Soraya?" "Aaaggghhh..." Soraya screamed hysterically, when someone suddenly stood in front of her and called her name. In front of her, Kimberly stood in the doorway, staring at her in bewilderment. Soraya who was shocked, wanted to faint even more. She felt her heart would jump out of her body. "Kim? You-" "What's the matter with you? Where have you been home at this hour?" "I- I just had some business to attend to. So-" "David asked me to see if you were in your room or not. Your phone was off, so he asked me to check your room. But, when I came, Kerry Smith said you weren't home yet." "Kerry?" "Yeah, she's your roommate, right?" "Yeah, I just-" "What happened? Why are you hurt? Your neck-" Kimberly tried to touch Soraya. She saw cuts and bruises at the corners of Soraya's lips and neck. In a panic, Soraya hastily brushed away Kimberly's hand. She didn't want to tell Kimberly what had happened to her. She didn't want this problem to get any longer. "I'm fine! I fell earlier, yes, that's all. I'm so tired, I'm going to my room now! See you later?" She said as she walked past Kimberly and went to her room. Soraya was very scared, she knew it would be much worse if she met Kerry. Especially, if Kerry brought Josh into the room. She hated this so much, she didn't want to see that bastard's face again. In front of her, the bedroom door is ready to be knocked. Her body was shaking, Soraya couldn't control her feelings. She felt so broken, so hurt and didn't know what to do. "What should I do?" Her tears flowed. Soraya wept. Behind the door, she didn't hear Josh's voice. Only the sound of Kerry talking to someone, but no one else in the room. "You know where Josh is? His phone is off, I called him earlier. He said he'd be in my room at 7, but it's already 11 and he hasn't told me. If you see him, tell him I'm waiting for a call from him!" Soraya was stunned, she should have guessed that Kerry would invite the bastard at any moment. She no longer cared if Soraya didn't like her decision. But, from her phone call, it seemed that Josh wouldn't be coming tonight. "No! Don't let him come tonight! I don't want to see him, I don't want to see his disgusting face again. I want him dead! I want him to disappear from this world forever!" ***
