"Sora? Soraya? Hey, Sora!"
David kept calling Soraya who was sitting alone in the garden. The last class was over, but Soraya didn't appear in class either. The whole day she spent daydreaming, thinking about all the oddities she had experienced.
David waved his hand right in front of Soraya's eyes who was slowly recovering from her long daydream.
"David? What are you doing?" Soraya asked with faraway eyes.
David sighed, he couldn't believe what he got after standing for five minutes in front of this girl.
"I should be the one asking. What are you doing here?"
"Me? I didn't do anything!"
"Then, why are you absent today?" Asked David who tried to be patient with this innocent girl.
"I don't know what I'm doing. You know what, David? Last night I got a message from Diana."
"Message? From Diana? Really?"
"Yeah, around 2 am. The message was sent from her phone number. She said she was fine and was hiding somewhere."
"Hide? What does that mean?" Asked David who increasingly did not understand what was happening.
"I don't know what she means! She just asked me to bring her food, blankets and shoelaces. She asked me to put them in front of the pine tree in the woods behind the dormitory building."
"Oh my god, that's really weird! Then, didn't you try to contact her to be sure?"
"N-no, I went to that forest and wished she was there."
"Oh my God, how did you come to that forest alone?" David shouted angrily. He really didn't understand why this girl could be so careless.
"I don't know! I just, I'm just really worried about Diana. I'm afraid something bad will happen to her!"
"You know, Sora? Honestly, I really didn't want to expect this, but I feel like something bad has happened to Diana. Somehow I feel like she's dead!"
"What? What did you say?"
"I know this sounds cruel, but I have no other clue than to think Diana might be dead."
"No, that's impossible-"
"Her parents came to the police station today and they don't seem to believe that Diana is missing either. Her mother said that Diana never went a day without telling her mother. But, since the day she declared missing. Not a single message or call from her. Her number is has never been active again. The police have been looking for her for four days and she hasn't gone anywhere. She's completely gone, it makes me think of the worst possible thing which is her death."
"No! That's impossible, David. I'm sure Diana will be fine, she will - she'll be home!"
"That's just the worst case possible. There's still hope that she's still alive as long as there's no sign of death. I think you should go to the police station now and tell them about the message from Diana's phone number. I think that could be a clue for the police to find her!"
"What should I tell them?"
"Just tell them everything and show them the message! I'll accompany you to the police station!"
"A-alright!"
David and Soraya walked together towards the university gates. Soraya sensed a strange situation. She felt that so many pairs of eyes were watching her.
This strange situation made her try to observe her surroundings. As expected, several people walking nearby were whispering to each other while glancing at her. It was so obvious that she was sure they were talking about her.
"That's her! They said she was a close friend of the missing Diana Brown, right? I heard she was the last person to see her before she disappeared."
"Right, I heard they had a fight before. Someone saw the two of them talking on the bench until the afternoon. Maybe they just had a fight and something bad happened."
"Could it be that she accidentally killed her and buried her somewhere?"
"Oh my God, that's terrible! Plus, no one saw Diana Brown coming out of the dormitory gates that day. That means Diana Brown is still around the university area!"
Soraya silent, frozen in place. Her body could not be moved. She could hear what they were saying about her as well as about Diana. It hit her hard, she didn't know why anyone could accuse her of such a cruel act. It felt so unreasonable.
Soraya couldn't hold back her tears. She lost her closest friend and now she is considered the most responsible person.
David looked at her with pity, he knew that their accusations would hurt Soraya. However, he also found it difficult to fight the wave of rumors that had already spread. People will only enjoy information they find interesting and conspiratorial.
"Never mind! Don't listen to their words! They will only talk useless nonsense. Therefore, don't get yourself into trouble!" Said David. Soraya nodded slowly while wiping her tears.
"Yeah, I know! I just miss Diana so much."
"Me too!"

Manchester Police Station
"How did it go? Has the DNA of the owner of the shoelace been found?" Asked Inspector John Smith.
"We've checked and the results are out. Are Miss Brown's parents still here?"
"They go to rest, they stay here for 24 hours and that makes me very sympathetic. Especially to hear their confession that the girl who disappeared was their only daughter."
"Whatever the outcome, I think it's going to shock them even more!"
"Yes. So, what was the result?"
"On the shoelace was found to have the same DNA as Diana Brown."
"Really?"
"That's right, Inspector!"
"That means the shoelaces are hers. Well, this way things are clearer. Diana Brown disappeared around the X University dormitory area. Based on the CCTV footage found at the gates of the dormitory which doesn't show Diana Brown passing through the gates."
"That means we're going to do a search around the dorms, Inspector? Didn't we already? And we found nothing!"
"We still haven't gone all over the place, Jason! Still haven't! There's a place we need to go down and do some digging. The forest behind the dorms, we'll do a search there tomorrow! Get ready a team and sniffer dogs!"
"Yes, Sir!"
