Old Apartment

Soraya and David were stunned, they really didn't know how to react. This middle-aged man looked strange. His clothes were dirty and his body gave off a very thick smell of sweat, like a person who rarely bathed. Honestly, it's really annoying.
"Sorry, but we're going! Let us through!" Said David who firmly grasped Soraya's hand and took decisive steps to break through this man's path.
"Wait a minute! Why are you in such a hurry? You haven't even checked the room yet, have you? You've already come here, that means you must be looking for a room, right?" The man smiled strangely. His face looked much more terrifying than before.
Soraya shuddered, this man's smile made her remember Josh's smile. They both look scary.
Realizing that Soraya was feeling uneasy, an irritated David made his way back down the street. Yet this man was getting stubborn by purposely standing right in front of the door to block their way.
"Sorry, but we have to go!"
"Why in such a hurry? Come on, come on in! You can see the available rooms. I have eight vacant rooms in front for cheap prices. You won't find them anywhere else, I guarantee it!"
"No, thank you!" An annoyed David immediately showed his aggression by throwing a cynical look which he hoped would make this man understand and immediately get out of their sight.
Even though David hoped it would work, what happened was this man forced them and didn't seem like he was going to let them go.
"Just go in first! Have a look and check the place before you decide!" He said with a smirk.
David started to get angry, he is the type of person who hates violence. But, he realized that his current situation really didn't allow him to remain patient.
"s**t! Didn't you hear? Get out of my sight, old bastard!" David shouted as he grabbed the man by the neck and pushed him out of their way.

David violently released his grip and threw the man to the floor. Soraya who was shocked, could hardly believe the situation she was witnessing. However, before she could understand it, David immediately withdrew her hand and led her away from this place.
They ran out of the old building, hoping the horrible old man didn't chase after them. After realizing that they were safe, Soraya started laughing.
"Hahahaha..." Soraya giggled. She didn't think that David could do that.
"Why are you laughing? What's so funny?" David asked. His anger after facing this terrible man had not gone away and now Soraya made him even more annoyed by laughing at him.
"Hahahaha... the funny thing is you, David! Hahaha my goodness, how could you strangle that guy and push him to the ground, you're so mean!"
David who was panting, tried to catch his breath. When he thought about it again, his actions were really evil.
"You must think I'm evil, right?"
"A little!"
"Tsk, as expected!"
"Why? I said it because you were the one who suddenly got angry and almost hit him!"
"Can't you see what he looks like? He looks like a perverted old man! He keeps looking at you with that disgusting look!"
"Really? I don't think he's watching me!"
"You i***t! Why are you so careless, huh? At a glance you know what that means, right? Besides, it's not a place suitable for humans to live in. Did you see anyone other than us in the apartment?"
"I think so-"
"How could I let you live in a place like thatthat? Come on, you'd better think about moving out of the dorm. I'll try to find a place that's safe and secure for you, but until then, I hope you can be patient in your room now!" David asked. Soraya was stunned, she couldn't bear to glance at David who a few seconds ago had said a very warm sentence to her.
Soraya did not understand, why David cared so much about her? This sudden silence made Soraya feel awkward, even just to say thank you to David.
"David!"
"Yes?"
"Why do you care so much about me? Even though we haven't known each other long. We've only seen each other for three months. But why, do you care so much about me?" She asked doubtfully. But Soraya was so curious about what David really thought of her.
"If you ask me that, I don't know either!"
"What?"
David was at a loss for words, his mouth shut tight and he wasn't so sure of his own feelings. The pounding he was feeling right now was actually enough to make him understand, what was really happening to him? However, his ego and pride are much bigger and it forces him to ignore his true feelings.
"We're friends, right? Because of that, it's only natural that I care about you!" David said. He knew the words he spoke did not come from his heart, but from his ego.
Soraya lifted her head, looked at the face of David who was standing in front of her and smiled gently.
"You're right, we are friends. Thank you, David. You make me feel good now!"

Soraya opened her bedroom door feeling much better than before. She had no idea that going out with David, drinking a cup of coffee, watching a movie, going to a restaurant burger and running around together could make her mood really change.
Soraya knew that she was very grateful to David and all he had done today for her. However, who would have thought that the pleasure she felt did not last long?
Just as Soraya opened the door to her room, Kerry's face appeared in the room, welcoming her with her very insincere welcome smile.
"Welcome, Soraya?" Said Kerry. She smiled until her eyes closed. The look on her face was strange and terrifying.
"Kerry? Why are you here?" Soraya asked who still couldn't believe that Kerry was already in the room.
Kerry got up from her bed and walked over to Soraya who was glued to the door. Kerry was standing right in front of Soraya, smiling and looking at her strangely. Soraya shuddered, Kerry's smile was far stranger than the smile of the old man in the old apartment.
"W-what are you-" Before Soraya could finish her sentence, without a word, Kerry hugged her.
Soraya was silent, she felt a chill run down her back. She could smell medicine or hospital and Soraya knew this smell was coming from Kerry's body.
"Soraya, Thank you for taking care of me all this time. I don't know what would have happened to me without you!"
