A Request

"What can I do? Watch him? If I had come and made the stupid mistake of sneaking into the room and trying to see the painting, I might have a chance to find out. But now what? I do not dare!" She muttered. Soraya did not expect this problem to get more serious. Especially when Inspector John Smith asked her to report anything she saw to them. Robert Stanley is still teaching at the university even though the police have sued him. They thought this was the best way for them to keep an eye on his movements while he was still around the scene. If he stopped teaching, it would be difficult to find any other evidence. "Does the university already know about this? That means that his presence at the university is nothing but a potential suspect who must be monitored, no longer because of his talent and knowledge in the arts. Soraya felt sad, if it was true that Robert was the culprit, maybe this was her biggest heartbreak because she fell in love with a murderer. But what if it wasn't him? Soon, bad rumors about him will definitely spread and everyone already has a bad feeling about him. How can he restore his already damaged good name? Soraya slightly regretted her decision to comply with the request from the police, she felt a very big dilemma. On the one hand, she felt very guilty for leaving Diana alone that afternoon. If she had waited for Diana and gone back to the dorm together, maybe this wouldn't have happened. Maybe Diana wouldn't have met the killer and she was still here with her now. But on the one hand, she was afraid if it turned out that Robert Stanley was not involved and she became the person who was most instrumental in destroying his career. Soraya had never felt so depressed and so frustrated like this before. This made her think of giving up and returning to her hometown. "Should I just go home? If I had listened to my father and mother's advice to continue studying there, surely none of this would have happened. I don't need to meet with Robert Stanley and I also don't need to be involved in all this stuff. It's my fault! I'm so stupid !" She thought. Soraya sighed repeatedly carelessly looking at the rain-soaked street through the coffee shop window. She sat in the corner of the cafe, ordered a cup of coffee and daydreamed for almost an hour. It was late afternoon and she was still reluctant to leave and return to the dormitory. The police always warned her not to wander around or come home too late to avoid something unwanted. Not only her, but all students on campus also received the same warning. Soraya glanced at the clock on her hand, it was already 06.00 in the afternoon. But it was still raining outside and she didn't have an umbrella with her, it was impossible to break through the rain in late autumn like this. Soraya decided to wait until the rain let up a bit. But just as he thought he could wait quietly, Robert Stanley walked into the cafe a little wet. Soraya gasped, she immediately looked down, hoping he didn't see her sitting alone. This cafe is quite quiet, not many people can make Robert not notice its existence. Soraya felt her heart beat fast. It's not that he doesn't want to see her, it's just that she doesn't want to meet at the moment. But it seems, no one can avoid the meeting. Robert saw it and then approached her who was sitting in the corner. Robert stood at her desk, looked at her seriously, then pulled out a chair and sat down directly in front of Soraya. "What are you doing here?" Robert asked in a cold tone. Soraya raised her face slowly nervously. "Drink coffee and wait for the rain to stop!" "It's getting dark soon, you better get home before nightfall." "I know, you don't have to tell me!" Soraya replied curtly. She was still offended and hurt by Robert's words this morning. "Are you mad at me?" "No! Why should I be angry? I am nothing to you. I have no right to be angry!" Even though the two confessed, it was clear from the look on her face that she was angry and disappointed. "I apologize!" "Huh? What?" Soraya don't listen to it. How could a cold-hearted man like him apologize? It's hard to believe. "I'm sorry, I said something I shouldn't have said. Will you forgive me?" "B-but-" Soraya was pensive. She didn't know why things could change so fast? Just two hours ago she decided to cooperate with the police in keeping an eye on Robert Stanley. She agreed because she thought that the relationship between her and Robert would not go well. The dilemma is back, Soraya really doesn't know what to do now. If she cooperates with the police, it means she has to undergo a fake relationship with Robert to find out who he really is and solid evidence that could push him to be the main suspect in the Diana murder case. But, how to live a relationship with a lie like that? Soraya truly loved this man and it was only natural that she wished that the person she loved was not involved. "I know I shouldn't be mad at you over such a small thing. But can you consider forgiving me?" "I'm not mad at you at all! I just- I just feel guilty for crossing the line. Please don't be like this! You didn't do anything wrong. Because of that-" Soraya couldn't continue her sentence. She felt short of breath and had difficulty breathing. Her love was so passionate and she began to think that what Kimberly told her was true. She was a very naive and pathetic person. "Okay, I get it! Can we start over again?" "Starting from scratch?" "Yes! My mother asked me to get married soon and I couldn't find a suitable woman. I know you are very young and you still have a long way to go. I just need to arrange for my mother that I already have a future wife, that way she won't force me or try to find me a match for me. I can wait until you graduate college and then we can get married." "M-married? Are you kidding me, Sir?" Soraya's face turned red. She couldn't believe that she had just been proposed to by the man she liked the most. "I don't have female friends and I don't know how to relate to a woman either. Some of them might be afraid of me. But I think I can be close to you because we have a lot in common." Robert said it calmly and seriously. Even though his face didn't change. But Soraya could sense the nervousness in his tone. Of course, because he had just proposed to a woman to be his wife. Soraya was silent for a few minutes, trying to digest what was really going on. This was too sudden and too shocking. But, undeniably, she felt very happy. "But, what about your job as a lecturer? Shouldn't a lecturer not have a love relationship with his student? What if other people find out and-" "I've been thinking about it! I could have told other people about our relationship and the risk that I'd have to stop teaching and transfer to another University. But, I'm also thinking about your privacy. You must be annoyed if other people find out. I don't want it to be difficult for you!" Robert smiled sadly. His face looks so cute. Soraya felt a burning heat spread over her face that was starting to give up. "Why did you choose me? I'm not the woman you deserve. I'm not good at cooking, I'm careless and stupid. I'm forgetful and I'm still childish too. I have so many flaws, while you are too perfect. I feel unworthy though I love you!" "I'm not looking for a perfect woman. I just need someone who can understand me and believe in me!" Robert's last words pierced her heart. Soraya's eyes were wet, she didn't know how to explain how upset her heart was right now. "Do you think I can understand you?" "Yes, I know you can understand me!" "Is that so? But, I can't decide right now. I have to think about it again!" "I see! You don't have to answer now. I'll be waiting for you!" *** Robert's car stopped in front of the dormitory door. As they expected, this place was very quiet even though it was still 8:30 pm. "Thanks for driving me home!" She said nervously. Being alone with him at the place where Diana disappeared made Soraya feel a little scared. Especially considering the words of Inspector John Smith who said that Robert Stanley was one of the potential suspects who had killed Diana. Robert looked at Soraya gently, brought his face closer and kissed her. Even though she was scared and nervous, Soraya couldn't resist the kiss he gave. "He's too cute to be a murderer." She thought. Soraya wrapped her arms around Robert's neck and kissed him back. The kiss lasted five, minutes and Soraya thought she was getting aroused again. However, it was impossible to do so here now. Soraya broke the kiss, she could see the pair of beautiful eyes only a few inches away. Robert kissed her again and again, Soraya didn't know if she could endure this. "Come in! I'll wait until you get to your room!" Robert said in a soft voice. Soraya nodded in agreement. "See you later? Good night?" "Good night!" Soraya opened the car door and stepped out. She waved for a moment before finally she run to the door of the dormitory. Even though they were separated, Soraya could still smell Robert's signature perfume. The smell made her heart skip a beat. Soraya stood in front of her bedroom door, hesitant to go inside. She thought maybe Kerry was asleep or still out looking for her crazy boyfriend. But, it was impossible for her to just sit in front of the door like a fool. "Okay, I have to go in now! I don't care if you're still crying like a baby!" She muttered, steeling her heart. She opened the door and found a dark room. She saw the silhouette of a person on Kerry's bed through the light coming in from the lamp in the corridor. "She's asleep? Thank goodness!" She thought. Soraya walked carefully so as not to make a sound and tried to feel the wall for a power outlet. "If I turn on the light, she'll wake up! Geez, what can I do?" Sorat had no choice, she was aware of Kerry's habit of waking up every time the lights were turned on. Soraya didn't want Kerry to wake up and cry again like this afternoon. It really bothered her. Especially now that it was night, she would definitely make a fuss. Soraya fumbled in her wardrobe, took off the clothes she was wearing and took out her pajamas. Then walked carefully to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth, before finally laying on her bed and trying to fall asleep. Drrrttt...drrrttt... Her phone vibrated, Soraya immediately felt the table beside her bed and reached for her cell phone. One message from Robert. Soraya immediately opened and read the first message that Robert gave her. 'Are you asleep? Have you done your homework for tomorrow?' Soraya's smile broke, she didn't expect that Robert would pay attention to her. Soraya was not sure to accept Robert's feelings and wanted her as a wife. However, which woman can resist the attention of the man she loves? Everything and no matter what, if given attention and love, all women will surely melt too. Especially if the woman fell in love first. 'I've been working on it, but there's one material, I don't quite understand. I'll study it again tomorrow.' 'You want me to help you? I can teach you material you haven't mastered yet.' 'Is it allowed?' 'Certain!' 'All right, please help, Sir!' 'Okay. Good night?' "Good night, sweet dreams.' Soraya smiled, this was really a very sweet thing. A few days ago she didn't even think about sending a private message with her favorite lecturer. But now the situation is very different. Like a dream too beautiful to be true. "I really love you." ***
