Ella's POV
That howl ripped through the night, and I knew it immediately. I'd heard Nathaniel call to me a thousand times during our mated years. He was calling for me.
"He's here," Kane said, appearing at the entrance to the medical bay where I'd emerged from the vent. He'd been waiting. "Nathaniel crossed the border an hour ago. He's demanding to see you."
I pressed my hands to my stomach protectively. "I don't want to see him."
"You don't have a choice." Kane's expression was hard. "He brought Harrison and a dozen enforcers. If I refuse him access, this becomes a war, and my pack doesn't deserve bloodshed because you're afraid to face him."
