Chapter Twenty Two - Part Two
Present Ada felt like her eyes were going to pop out of her skull. What should have been a simple hour and half drive was wearing on her like a 10 hour drive would. The first half of the drive, she probably spent more time looking in the rearview mirror than she did looking at the road itself. She felt safer as she neared her destination, but she never dropped her vigilant lookout for any cars that approached her. The further she got from Murien and Anne’s farm, the more confident she was that Etienne’s cronies didn’t have any idea that she was there and where she was going. She hoped then that meant that the couple were safe from Etienne’s harm. She fought back a sob at that thought. The last thing she needed was to have tears cloud her vision and cause her to wreck.
