Chapter Twenty Three

Present    Ada drove to the gas station Murien instructed her to. She parked on the side of the parking lot, out of the way of patrons. She put the keys in the gas cap cover like Murien told her to so they can retrieve the keys at another time. Murien told her that he and Anne were friends with the owner of the station so they trusted that their vehicle would be safe until they could go get it.  Satisfied with how she left the pick up, she stood up and hoisted her back pack on her shoulders. She then turned in the direction of the bus stop. She could see that it was a couple blocks away and across the street. She tightened her bookbag on her shoulders and walked through the parking lot to the sidewalk. Just as she stepped on to the sidewalk, she heard the squealing of tires behind her
