4 years before
Etienne with his hand firmly settled on Ada’s lower back, led the group to their hotel suite.
Ada tried to slip out from under his grasp, but he was just as coy about regaining his hold on her.
She glanced up at him and he gave her a secret grin. She returned it with an eyeroll.
While they made it to the elevator and down the hall, she caught glimpses of a pair of men following their entourage. She wasn’t sure if Etienne and his friends noticed their tail or not, it concerned her that no one gave them a second look.
She felt her anxiety rise and she started to review plans of action in her mind.
Etienne scanned a card and opened the door for the group. That was when he finally let go of her, but she really didn’t slink off too far away since she followed the group in.
As she one was one of the last ones to walk through the door, she looked down the hall and saw the pair of unknown men come down their same hall striding towards Etienne’s suite.
She quickly stepped through the door and shut it behind her. She stood against it trying to gain her breath and ease away the pain in her chest.
She jumped when there was a solid double knock on the door behind her head.
Casmin stepped forward and smiled at Ada.
“Excuse me, doll.” He said.
Ada stepped off to the side and watched as Casmin opened the door to reveal the very pair of men that unnerved her.
They held out a pair of car keys to Casmin. Casmin took them.
“Thank you, gentlemen.”
They nodded then turned and entered a door adjacent to Etienne’s.
Of course. They were Etienne’s lackeys.
Which reaffirmed her belief that he wasn’t just any kind of man and that she shouldn’t get mixed up with him.
Casmin shut the door and turned to Ada with a smile.
“Let’s join the others shall we?”
Ada followed Casmin into the rest of the suite.
Ada realized that no one else saw the exchange at the door because they were too enthralled with the opulence in the suite. Ada had to admit that her own jaw dropped once she realized what she was taking in.
The suite they were in could more aptly be described as a luxury apartment.
It was more extravagant than any kind of place she and the girls lived in, let alone stay in a hotel that’s at this level. And the places were considered quite nice since they had their combined income.
The suite had an open floor plan with a large living room that had multiple leather couches, a glass coffee table sitting atop a faux fur rug. There was a pool table, and a large conference table surrounded by expensive leather office chairs on the other side of the space. The kitchenette was more like a full kitchen with an island/breakfast bar.
The girls and her had a variety of tastes that ranged from bojo, chic, cutesy, utilitarian, and dark. The combination made for a unique fun blend that made their space cozy and fun.
This decorum style was just plain cold luxury. Cliché cold luxury.
Once you were past the size and opulence of the place, it quickly lost its appeal to Ada.
There were rooms off to either side of the space of the suite.
The men had pointed out where the bathrooms were. Bathrooms! As in multiple for one stinking suite.
The group settled around the couches and island for another round of drinks.
Ada wandered over to a door and peeked through curiously.
She caught a whiff of the man that had used the room and knew immediately it belonged to Etienne.
Her heart started to race again. She should get away from this door before she was caught.
A low voice spoke behind her causing her to jump.
“If it’s my bedroom you’re looking for, it’s directly through this door. I’d be more than happy to show you.”
She answered with another eyeroll.
As she squeezed past him, she said, “Jesus. I’ve heard better pick up lines in a truck stop.”
She walked away to join the rest of the group.
Etienne watched her and his mouth curled into a grin.
He was going to love this game.
And he was going to thoroughly enjoy winning.
