With the introductions complete, the group began to prepare for the hike. They checked their gear, adjusted their backpacks, and made sure they had enough water and snacks for the journey. Amara felt a bit more at ease now that she knew everyone. Rowan’s presence, however, remained a persistent weight on her mind. She was acutely aware of his occasional glances.
As they started down the trail, the group fell into an easy rhythm, chatting and laughing as they walked. Amara made a point to engage with each person, asking about their interests and sharing a bit about herself. The conversations flowed naturally, and she found herself enjoying their company.
