It wasn't p*********y, the action was happening live, right in front of her.
Maya instantly panicked, her pulse quickening.
Why was there another woman on her matrimonial bed?
She couldn't see the face of the lady as she was beneath her husband. They were too busy with their pleasure that they hadn't noticed her presence. The sound of the moans was rising and so was Maya's surge of emotions.
“ Chris!" She said, loud enough for them to hear this time.
Maya watched her husband pull out from the lady and turn to her, pulling the sheets over them. For a brief moment, her eyes met his before she tore it away, letting it fall on the woman.
This time, her heart stopped!
“ Candice!" She mumbled.
Maya had never wished to see the face of the lady staring at her ever again. She had run away from that face and the things that came with it about five years ago, turned out she could never really escape from the harsh reality fate had given her.
Candice was Maya's stepsister. They had the same mother but different fathers. Their mother had indulged in a drunken affair in the early years of her marriage and Maya was the result. Candice’ father, her actual husband, had loved his wife deeply, so he forgave her mistakes but he never accepted Maya as his daughter, and everyday he made sure to remind her of that. Maya's childhood had been miserable, she never got to enjoy the joys that came with being a child. Even her mother deserted her when she took in a second time and gave birth to Candice. All of the love was directed towards the new baby and at the little age of three, Maya learned and understood that she wasn't loved.
When Maya's mother died of a terminal illness, everything got even worse for Maya. Everyday brought more t*****e. She was just thirteen but she had been through the worst pain, both physically and emotionally. She didn't have any friends, at home or in school, everyone called her a stuck up loner. To worsen it, she barely even had good grades. Candice was smarter, a reality Maya was tormented by every second. All she could do was endure the pain and tick the time to when she would be free to leave her stepfather's house.
When she turned eighteen, Maya walked out of the door and never returned. They didn't try to make her stop and she didn't look back either. It had been five years, and not once did her stepfather or stepsister bother to check up on her. Sometimes, she wondered if they thought she was dead. But the answer was right in front of her at that moment.
They knew she was alive and doing well. If there was one thing Maya had come to understand, it was that Candice and her father hated her up to the point of wishing nothing good for her. That had to be the only reason why Candice was in bed with her husband.
Maya's heart ached and she could only stare in despair. She watched the expression on Candice' face turn from shock to a wicked smirk she had etched in her memory.
“ Hello stepsister!" She said.
Maya's legs began trembling all over again. She took two weary steps backwards, reaching for the door to support her so she wouldn't fall. She turned back to Chris, her eyes moistening with tears that held such heavy emotions.
Chris rolled his eyes like the question she had asked was very stupid. A low chuckle came from Candice.
“ Why don't you give us a minute to finish up what you interrupted and get dressed then we'll explain everything you need to know to you" she said shamelessly.
Maya didn't look at her. Hearing her voice alone made her heart feel like it was being torn apart, looking at her would mean having her heart shredded into pieces.
" Chris… " Maya mumbled again, seeking for some sort of reassurance in his eyes. She found nothing, just the cold darkness in his eyes as he glared at her.
“ Quit being so pathetic and just leave already" he thundered, waving his hand carelessly as his way of telling her to get out.
That was all Maya needed. She turned around with her shaky legs and walked out of the room. The living room felt empty to Maya as she flopped into a cushion, staring into oblivion.
Chris was right. She was pathetic. Was it right that she caught her husband sleeping with another woman and she was the one made to feel wrong? Of course not! But this was usual. Nothing was right in her life.
With everything wrong Chris had done to her in their two year marriage, Maya had never thought he would cheat on her too. She was everything a good wife could be and more. She was the one working and paying the bills of the house while Chris stayed at home all day, playing video games and touching himself in all the wrong places while he watched p*********y at the highest volume. It was disgusting but she endured it. The day she had tried to speak up about it, he had beaten her up for the very first time. As a victim of physical and emotional a***e, Maya was naturally a weakling. She couldn't stand up for herself when the need arose. She was easy to manipulate so when Chris called her after making her a punch bag, and told her she was the wrong one and she had no right to question him, Maya succumbed. She had learned a rather useless lesson that day and had taught herself to not bother about the things Chris did for it was none of her business.
Maya was the obedient wife you couldn't find anywhere else. She listened to his every word without argument. She gave in to him whenever he wanted s****l contact, it didn't matter if she was exhausted or not for it was the duty of a wife. She even sent money to his family for monthly upkeep, who does that?
As Maya reminisced even further, the tears began to pour from her eyes and shivers ran through her spine.
“ I don't understand. How… how could he… “ she said out loud, her voice breaking as the tears poured.
“ Awww!” A voice broke through her thoughts.
Maya didn't make any move to wipe the tears away, even as Candice appeared before her. Chris was closely behind her, his face set in a sculpted frown.
Candice smiled sweetly, like she was the good guy and not the villian.
“ You know, you could attract all of the sympathy in the world from just looking like this. All of it darling and there'll be nothing to spare for anybody else” she said, her eyes twinkling. She laughed lightly, turning to Chris as she cracked her stupid jokes.
Maya was hurt.
“ Is this a joke to you, Candice?" She spoke.
Candice shrugged, surprised for a minute that she spoke back.
“ It depends on how you see it darling, but of course, you know your life has always been a joke” she said.
Maya swallowed, biting her lips to stop the tears from pouring.
“ Daddy sends his greetings to you, sweetheart" Candice added.
“ I'll make sure to tell him how miserable you've gotten in five years"
The more she spoke, the more Maya couldn't take it. With strength she didn't know she had, she bolted to her feet, standing head on with Candice.
“ What are you doing here? Why are you here? I left you and your father, didn't I? Why can't you two let me already? Did you have to seduce my husband and make him cheat on me? Why do you hate me that much, Candice? Why?” Maya spat all at once, all the questions that had been on her mind and needed answers.
Candice snickered, forming a slightly offended expression. She placed her hand on her chest and said,
“ Seduce? That's a very strong word, dear. I didn't seduce Chris, you're getting it all wrong"
" I'm not stupid, Candice. I can see what you did” Maya retorted.
Candice chuckled wickedly.
" Talk about stupid and you are the perfect definition. I am telling you that I did not seduce Chris here, let's hear from him then, shall we?”
She walked to Chris and slipped her hand through his, the other caressing his cheek.
" Baby, did I seduce you? Did I make you do this on my wish? Didn't you want this as much as I did?" She questioned.
“ Don't you want me?" She added, her voice softening.
Chris glanced at Maya before slipping his hand through her waist.
" I'll always want you, baby. Always!"
Maya swallowed again. A thought raced through her mind and it clicked.
With her hands shaking, she mumbled,
“ This isn't the first time, is it?"
Candice smiled evily.
" You've become smart, my sweet stepsister “
