How dare she?
She had blocked me out.
Taken my strength.
Told Ridge to make me rest.
There could be people dying out there, and I could save them.
"Not without me, you can't." I hear Sky in my head, even though she was blocking me out; she could still be there, but not for me to reach, and that sucks big time.
Before I know it, I am drifting off to sleep, right there in the car, and find myself in the void, having no power to stop the descent into the abyss.
"My child, you are wilful." Her voice tickles my ears as I lie on the soft ground made of moss.
My eyes sprang open to find I wasn't at the waterfall, but somewhere else; it was empty, void of sound, wind, or emotion, just one lush piece of ground, no clouds in the sky, no hills. It made me feel empty.
