CHAPTER 6: THE PREMONITION

1101 Words
I slowly and carefully walked around the unknown territory to see where am I. I stood in front of a sliding window which was facing the forest and was wide open. I walked a little further and saw kitchen on my right. I walked straight, passing the kitchen and in a corner near the spiral staircase I saw a mirror. I walked towards it recalling of a myth which said that if you don’t see your reflection in the mirror then you are dreaming. I wanted to check if I fell asleep walking away from the university and as I walked in front of the mirror, I stumbled on the sight of green glowing eyes staring back at me. “What is happening? Why do I have glowing eyes?” I whisper to myself still looking in the mirror. I was going to walk away from the mirror but then I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body. I glanced down to my body to see nothing wrong with it but instead when I looked up, I saw person run pass through me.   “How even?” I looked up too see the person who passed through me was a boy. If my sight was accurate, he was around 17 years old and it looked like he was running away from someone. I walked away from the mirror and tried to move further to investigate the scene in front of me, but I couldn’t move anymore. My feet were glued on the floor prohibiting me to move around no matter how hard I tried. I twisted my head to see the person who was chasing the boy.   By now I shouldn’t even by surprised to see who was chasing a kid. Let me simplify the situation for you all. The person wasn’t a person. Confusing? I know. Anyways the person looked like a person from far, but he wasn’t one. As the creature passed me, I perceived that the creature was approximately 9 ft tall humanoid who was gaunt to the point of emaciation, its desiccated skin pulled tautly over its bones. With its bones pushing out against its skin, its complexion the ash gray of death, and its eyes pushed back deep into their socket. It looked like a skeleton recently disinterred from the grave. What lips it had been tattered and b****y. Its body was unclean and suffering from suppuration of the flesh, giving off a strange and eerie odor of decay and decomposition. It was wearing only shorts and I am sure the scariest feature were the elongated limbs and its claws. Since its claws and fangs were as shiny as crystals, I decided that they were its most valuable possessions and it was just being sharpened for this day.   I didn’t like the fact that the creature was advancing rapidly towards the boy with a purpose and I was praying to whichever god was listening that the purpose wasn’t to kill the boy. The boy unsheathed his weapon out of thin air. The long metallic sword gleamed in my vision was nowhere in sight when he ran through me. I was surprised to see a tiny teenager carry such a heavy metallic object with confidence. I wish I had confidence.   I tried to move my frozen body to help the kid, to surprise the creature as he still didn’t notice me, to protect the child but my every attempt to move my body went to vain. As I was doing my best to move, the boy was fighting for his life.   All I saw of creature was fangs and claws and that scared me to death while that boy was fighting and seeing the whole creature upfront and attacking it with all he had. I started screaming at the boy warning him, but I don’t think he can hear me. The monster kept on advancing towards the boy and the boy kept stepping back avoiding the claws as best as he could. In the end the boy was cornered, and his face never showed any signs of panic. I don’t know what is wrong with me, I couldn’t move, and the boy couldn’t hear me. Then I heard something which I wished I never heard and just to confirm I turned to my right and I saw something I wished I didn’t.   I looked away for a second trying my best to get out of my invisible prison and a lot happen. The creature had managed to make the boy weaponless, but the boy still didn’t give up. He kept fighting for his dear life. The creature pinned him in the corner, and they exchanged some words that I couldn’t hear and then the boy tried his last trick. He stabs the creature with his dagger which apparently gave more pain to the creature then that sword of his. The creatures face expression looked like he howled in pain, and I heard a c***k. The only voice heard in this whole scene and it was of the boy’s rib cage breaking.   The creature had without any regret or guilt smashed through the boy’s rib cage using his elongated hand with claws and brought out its hand which was covered with boy’s gut and a lot of blood. I screamed. I couldn’t do anything but scream; and that’s when my body moved. I fell to the floor looking at the lifeless body of the boy fall limply to the ground with a hole in his chest. The creature didn’t stop there. The creature sat down next to the boy’s body and started biting the flesh of him.   My tears won’t stop streaming down my cheeks. The pain I once felt intensified and spread all around my body. I felt broken, hurt and hated that I couldn’t do anything. I literally stood there doing nothing just staring at the situation unfold in front of my eyes. I am a disgrace. I am so disgusted with myself. I still don’t know how I moved here or why are my eyes glowing all I knew is that the boy died the most horrible death ever. As I wiped my tears my eyes fell on the clock that showed time, date and day. Wiping tears didn’t help as they didn’t stop streaming and along with that my whole body hurt interdicting my body to move. I closed my eyes to unsee what I saw. Knowing that’s not possible so I opened eyes to take in the reality. Something that will always live with me; the death of an innocent boy by the hands of cannibalism.
