I snuggled into the soft material draped over me, feeling content after ages. Every day I would wake up to screams or terrifying nightmares with the need to run or face horrifying creatures of Mother Earth so waking up to softness and music was a big change for me unless this music lure me into something dangerous or…never mind. I don’t think I need negativity in my life right now. I have much bigger problem. I tried to go back to sleep as I have never been blessed by such heavenly bed before but I need answers.
My eyes flutter open and focused on the ceiling. It took minutes of blinking my eyes to focus properly. I got up from the bed and saw that I was still in my tattered clothes. Now that I remember I never changed my clothes since I was kicked out. Shuddering at that thought I started to look around for my backpack only to meet eyes with merciless fighter.
“You talk in your sleep.” Elijah said while he was leaning against the door frame with folded arms. He was wearing skinny black jeans that had the chain dangling from one loop of the jeans to another. He was wearing white and black plaid shirt.
“you don’t look damaged.” I asked shockingly thinking he would have cuts or even little scratches on him but he was squeaky clean.
“are you checking me out?” I stopped scanning him and looked at his face to see him smirking. Suddenly realization hit me like a truck and I instantly feel my cheek heat up. I looked down to look for my shoes because I had the feeling that the stone floor would be cold. I also looked down so that Elijah doesn’t see my reddened cheek.
“ummmm how long have you been standing there and what was I saying?” I asked unable to find my shoes.
“I was protecting the room.”
“wow. The room need protection? From whom?”
“You.”
“Me? The girl who slipped on banana?” I slapped my mouth for saying that out loud. Talk about embarrassing yourself in front of a professional fighter.
Elijah started walking towards me with a smile on his face. A genuine smile ladies and gentlemen. “You underestimate yourself a lot Isabelle.” Elijah bended as he was in front of me and his eyes met mine. Without moving his gaze his hand went under the bed and revealed pair of shoes. “You were mumbling about someone named Thea, cruelty and destruction.” As Elijah mentioned my sleep talking a shiver went down my spine and I shuddered unintentionally.
“It gets colder here. We, who live here are adapted to the temperature. Get ready. There is food outside waiting for you. Drystan is getting restless too. You better hurry.” Elijah said standing and walking away from me. Before leaving the room Elijah out of thin air produced some clothes and threw them my way and left the room. The door flew shut by itself scaring me to death. I sat there on the bed thinking about what Elijah heard me saying. Now who the hell is Thea? What destruction? The same one I saw in the vision? Ughh more questions!
I got up from the bed putting my feet on the ground and gasped loudly. I jumped on the bed quickly to warm up my feet again. The floor felt like it wasn’t a floor, it felt like I was walking on glacier barefoot. Whimpering I got down the bed and quickly donned the skinny black jeans and over-sized red and black plaid shirt. I quickly wore the combat shoes which looked like they belonged to yeti but as soon as I wore them, they shrunk to my size. What is this place? I crossed my arms immediately to hold on to my body heat and looked around the room.
It was good looking room with curtains. Something my room never had thanks to Courtney. The wallpaper of the room was dark. Three walls were navy blue in color and one was grey making the room look bigger. There was the Queen-sized bed pushed into the right-side wall and beside it was a side table. There were two windows in the room one was in the center, on the door facing wall and other was on the right side of the wall, near the bed. On the left side was a small mahogany desk and chair with a table lamp and in the left side corner was a floor lamp illuminating the whole room. Beside the desk was a shelf that housed several books. As soon as you enter the room there was a swing in the corner and two beanbags for people to sit scattered here and there. There was also a large center piece rug in the room. Boy I am in love with this room.
While I was examining the room, the temperature must have dropped because I was shivering at this point. I could see the water vapor release from my mouth and I couldn’t feel my nose or my ears. My eyes settled on a piece of clothing thrown carelessly on the swing. I strode towards and took it in my hands and sighed at the amount of warmth it provided. I donned it quickly and looked myself in the floor length mirror standing opposite of bookshelf. The jacket was definitely over-sized but it provided me with a lot of warmth even though it was leather. I caught whiff of cologne on it, realizing it belonged to someone. Without caring and appreciating the warmth I marched outside to meet Drystan and demand for some answers.
