The next couple of days passed similar to the first. They weren’t lucky to get another lift and had to take long breaks in the middle of the day when it was too hot to walk the dusty road. Sword fighting was a strenuous activity, but it hadn’t prepared them for days of walking.
Nights found them asleep the moment they lay in their bedrolls. Even the night before they were due to reach Farim the excitement of nearing the end of their journey didn’t keep them awake. When they woke in the morning, they found Shen’s backpack had been emptied out beside him. They’d slept so heavily none of them had heard anything.
