My eyes flew open, and I was gasping for air. I bolted upright in Jax’s bed, grasping at my chest and trying to get my bearings. Jax’s cool hand pushed my hair away from my forehead. “Shh. It’s alright.” My eyes scanned the room around me, and with what felt like a blow to my stomach, I realized my dad was gone and I was back in reality.
