A Call From Home

After I ate breakfast, Jax showed me the little round reading area inside one of the turrets visible from the outside of the home. And it was the perfect reading nook— a tiny circular room with comfortable plush pillow and blankets arranged on the floor, and a round built in book shelf on the wall by the window that was full of classics. I knew it was a tactic to distract me— he wanted to go make calls about recently purchased real estate. I didn’t protest when he kissed me and left me there to go into his office, though— I definitely needed a little time to myself. After Jax left me to go to his office, I curled up in the little round window seat with a blanket I grabbed from the floor, and leaned my head against the glass window— staring out over his sprawling front lawn. I sighed.
