Bang! Bang! The sound of bullets hitting the car was so loud it hurt Clara's ears. The windows shattered into tiny pieces, and glass fell onto the seats. Before Clara could even scream, Alexander jumped across the seat. He pushed her down onto the floor of the car and covered her with his big body. He used his wide shoulders to hide her from the bullets. She could smell the cold rain on his coat and feel his heart beating fast against her ear. "Stay down!" Alexander yelled.
