The private elevator made a soft beep before opening into the penthouse living room. Arthur set his old leather bag on the clean floor. He looked around at the big space, huge glass windows showing the city lights, simple furniture, and quiet halls. "Make yourself comfortable, Arthur," Alexander said as he handed his coat to a house worker. "I have guards on every floor. Nobody can get in here without me knowing." Arthur smiled softly, looking tired. "Thank you, Alexander. I haven't slept in a place this quiet for a long time." Clara walked her father down the hall to a warm guest room.
