The silence inside the Vance Tower penthouse was deep and peaceful. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the city lights sparkled like a million tiny stars. Clara stood by the glass, holding a warm cup of tea. She had finally taken off the white wedding dress and changed into a soft silk robe. Behind her, Alexander walked out of his study, tossing his tie onto the leather couch. He walked up behind Clara, wrapping his arms gently around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder.
