Alpha Jaden's POV While the Regional Alpha Council was gathering hundreds of miles away, I was pacing the sterile hallway of the pack's medical center, my hands clenched into fists at my sides. The fluorescent lights buzzed overhead, casting harsh shadows that matched my mood perfectly. I should have been at that meeting. Should have been presenting our pack's achievements, networking with other alphas, securing new alliances. Instead, I was stuck here, waiting for news about Liana and our child. The contractions had started two days ago, just as Ryan was preparing to leave for the council meeting in my place. At first, the pack doctor had been optimistic. First babies often took their time, he'd said. Everything looked normal. But normal had quickly become complicated. "Alpha Jaden?"
