Whatever it was, it was buried under layers of soap and shampoo, as if she had scrubbed her skin thoroughly sometime today. I leaned closer, my hand moving to cup the side of her neck. She didn't pull away, didn't protest. If anything, she seemed to sway toward me. "Tell me you're mine," I said quietly, my thumb brushing across her cheek. Her lips parted slightly, and I could see the conflict in her eyes. Something was warring inside her, some internal battle I couldn't understand. Just as she opened her mouth to respond, there was a sharp knock on the door. "Alpha!" Marcus's urgent voice called through the wood. "We have a situation that requires your immediate attention."
