39 It was at times like this that John Lucas wished he had his mobile with him. Although he’d tried to memorise the route, Google Maps would have come in very useful. He’d left his phone at home, knowing the police would likely be able to trace him otherwise. For all he knew, they were already tracking his movements. He knew they wouldn’t have officers staking out the house, though. Not with budget cuts the way they were at the moment. He’d picked a very specific route to Benjamin Newell’s house.
