I was struggling to stay in the moment and not be distracted while we were on the way back to Laya's dorm. I was distracted thinking back to that moment of the relief I felt when she finally answered was distracting me from the now. She restarted my heart by saying yes and then stopped it all over again when she grabbed my face and kissed me. Maybe I was delirious from the lack of oxygen in that moment but I swore her lips tasted like I'd imagined the first day I saw her, matching the chocolate of her skin. Only they were sweeter than any candy bar I'd ever had and served as a reminder that she wasn't the only one blessed by Selene and Helios, but so was I. I was blessed simply to have her as mine.
