It had been a couple of days since the night with Laya at my condo and Bain was feeling the anxiety of not being close to her. Our bond must have grown a lot that night since we got to touch and our wolves communicated to one another through whatever language is known just to them. I had been thinking it over and realized just much of an i***t I really was for ever involving Laya to begin with.
Of course I didn't know who Laya was when I made the counter challenge, nor did I know that I'd be meeting her almost right after the words left my mouth, but she's a living being and should have never been used as collateral to begin with. Her words stung in my memory. Without even knowing her, I completely devalued who she was and objectified her.
