To say the ride back to my place was awkward would be a major understatement. When I first saw her, I smelled that she was only human, but it looks like Bain was right. She did have a wolf. Sitting this close, I could just faintly smell it. I wanted to continue our conversation but her mate scent this close to me was driving me nuts. I was using all my strength just to not keep Bain from pulling over and trying to mark her.
As I pulled up to my condo, I realized that this was probably a bad idea altogether. We definitely needed to talk but having her so close was making it harder to reign Bain in. I still don't want a mate and I probably should have just rejected her immediately but with the counter challenge in play, I'm not sure if I even can.
