36 Tyler Gabi’s parents had gone to bed already, but she was outside, seated on the back porch with a mug of tea in her hands and watching the dark starry night. Last night, we had left the club and went to her family’s townhouse in the city. When they had mentioned a townhouse, I had imagined a narrow, small house in a nice neighborhood. I should have known by now that the Fernandeses went all big all the time—and they still managed to look and act simple and nice. The townhouse was a huge three-story home inside a fancy gated community in an equally fancy neighborhood. The house had been prepared for us and the guest bedroom was all set.
