Chapter 02|Serenity

AUTHOR'S POV

The annoying sound of the alarm filled the room jolting Amelia awake. Still sleepy she reached out to stop the disturbing sound but ended up throwing the lamp on the floor. Rubbing her eyes she let out a grunt and got up from the bed throwing the blanket aside and finally closing the alarm. Tying her hair in a bun she picked the lamp and settled it back on the table. Roaming her eyes all over the room to be precise, the messy room . She slapped her forehead and muttered with a hint of sarcasm under her breath” What a beautiful day”.

After cleaning the room she ran to get a quick shower and then searched her wardrobe which was filled with colorful outfits. Each outfit is better than the previous.Picking a decent outfit she got dressed. Once her makeup was completed she blew a kiss to her reflection and went outside.

As she reached the dining room,Jonah came running toward her. "Lia !" he called out his little hands clutching the fabric of the skirt . Before she could react, he planted a big, sloppy kiss on her cheek.

"Hi baby !" Amelia uttered in her soft,cooing voice. “ Do you know what happened last night?” he said, clinging to her neck, his wide, innocent eyes.” What happened?”Amelia questioned . “ Mumma and Baba were shouting but they didn't look like they were scared or shocked ” He babbled, making Amelia’s eyes widen as she realized . Before she could even respond Jonah got down from her lap and went to the dining table. Shaking her head she followed him to the dining table.

Amelia settled into her seat at the dining table,as she adjusted Jonah on her lap. The table was already filled with the sights and smells of a typical, hearty breakfast—Pancakes,fruits,juice and Coffee.

Amelia poured the coffee carefully in her mug when she heard Noah’s voice “ Woah who are you. You are not my sister”. A confused expression formed on her face as she rolled her eyes and continued eating. “ I already told you that I have an interview today.You know what you should go and see a doctor. You are suffering from short term memory loss problem “ She answered back while Noah settled onto his chair not before greeting everyone and kissing Jonah’s cheek and hitting Amelia’s head slightly “ Well then let's pray the company does not shuts down”

Amelia got angry as she realized what Noah meant and like every daughter she complained about it to her dad who shockingly supported Noah. Amelia then called out for Emily-Noah’s wife and Amelia’s best friend telling him about what Noah said. She even told her mother and later on both Jonah and Amelia laughed when Noah and Amelia’s dad stopped laughing and focused on eating their breakfast not attempting to raise their heads and look into the deadly stares of their wifes.

Despite the teasing and the laughter, Amelia found herself feeling happy. That made her believe that today won't be so bad after all.

But little did she know that today would be the day her life would change forever.
