Cassie thought of how false that was. She was already used to been humiliated and even slapped. She had just learnt how to pretend and take it all in. She had felt helpless during the times she had been slapped and ridiculed; she didn’t know how to defend herself until Brianna came in and taught her how to defend herself physically and emotionally.
